Can’t get this make out of my head despite originally settling on something else!

Screams "I wanted a boy called Thomas".

Yes, I'd assume a boy called Thomas had been expected/wanted. It feels a little like a joke name in this day and age tbh.

I love it and disagree with the previous poster, i don't think it screams 'I wanted a boy' at all.

I see it as quite a sophisticated name with nice shortenings, it's well known but unusual and different in a good way.

I like it and loves the film I think it’s called 3 Lives of Thomasina.

I think it's a clumsy sounding name, like the other male names with a feminine bit tacked on.

I've known several Thomasinas all in nursing homes and all the daughters of men called Thomas.

Have loved this name since seeing Arcadia at the theatre years ago! Go for it!

Tamsin is quite nice. Thomasina is a bit too obviously 'female form of Thomas' as pps have said. Bit like Wilhelmina, Roberta or Henrietta.

Strangely I don't feel that way about Georgina or Stephanie, maybe because they're more well known.

My MiL is called Ina. Her mother was Thomasina. Both aren’t / weren’t fond!

This ^ I just don't like the sound it it because its a mouthful and sounds masculine to me. A 4 syllable 1st name is rather long and would often be shortened, but what would would be a nn for this? Tom, Tommy, Toma, Sina?

Sorry, but all are awful, but maybe I'm missing a lovely nn for Thomasina I'm just not aware of?

It’s the kind of name I’d associate with the girl having been named after someone male like Roberta, Josepha or Nigella. A tribute name if you like.

Tangent, but Nigella is not just a form of Nigel , it's a lovely flower also known as - "love in a mist"

It sounds a bit clunky to me. Where I grew up there were names like Jamesina, Donaldina, which I also disliked.

I like it. There is a Thomas Hardy character called Thomasin. I really like Tamsin, too.
