Fortunately lots of Welsh names are short and vowelly! I think Nia and Alys both go very nicely with Eira and Iona.

If you wanted Celtic but not necessarily Welsh then Aoife, Orla, Fiadh/Fia, Eilidh and Morven are nice.

Otherwise names like Rose/Rosa, Lyra/Lila/Lara, Mia, Luna, Lucy, Anna and Emma work.

@CaffiSaliMali our Iona is the Scottish pronunciation (eye-oh-na). So we have one Welsh DD name for DH (Eira [AY-ra]) and one Scottish DD name for me (Iona).

Love Orla but not sure if it's weird that we're not Irish? Although I think my great grandfather was Irish!

Other options at moment are Anya or Mila (mee-la). This is (another) IVF baby with our wonderful clinic in Czech Republic, so thought to go for a Eastern European name this time to honour that.

As you can see I love 4 letter names! Both myself and DH have 4 letter names too 😁

So at moment it's Orla, Anya or Mila... thoughts?

Orla, Anya and Mila are all lovely and work well with your other DDs names.

I think Anya is my favourite. It goes very well with Eira and Iona. I like that it also starts with a vowel, but not E or I again and that it also ends with an a.

Anya is lovely. Thinking along similar lines, have you considered Alina, Adela or Milena?

@BellaVida yes actually! Was thinking of Milena with Mila as shortened version. It's Slavic and has a lovely meaning. Definitely a contender. Only thing is it's not 4 letters and not sure my OCD can handle that!! I'm also not used to names that can be shortened and if it becomes a pain deciding in what stations full version is used, eg school etc. Hmmm lots to think about!

@CaffiSaliMali you definitely get my naming strategy, you've listed all my pros for Anya! And it has a lovely meaning. Just wondering if it's too popular as our other DD names are very rare where we live in SE England (never cone across another). Hmmm

Could Ayla work? Similar origin, links to Irish but also a name used in Eastern Europe. Beautiful meaning too.

I've met two Anyas. One was in the SE (London), she was in her 20s and 30s and American and this was about 12 years ago.

The other Anya is my age (early 30s) and in Norway.

I've never met an Eira or an Iona (of either pronunciation) but I think Anya is sufficiently underused in the UK that it doesn't clash with Eira and Iona. It's not like it's a top 10 or even top 100 name.

Anya ranked 283 in England and Wales in 2020.

Eira ranked 406 (but ranked 46 in Wales).

Iona ranked 439 (but ranked 66 in Scotland). The Welsh only stats only cover the top 100 names so I don't know how it ranked in Wales.

My DD is Anya! She's 19 and loves her name - only vaguely know of about 2 others
