What do you think of this name for a girl?

Please help! I'm due in August and we are keeping the sex a surprise ☺️ We have picked out our boy name but really struggling to find a perfect name for a girl. I'm not too keen on choosing a name that is overly feminine and want to stay away from names in the top 20. I really like the name Rowan but not sure if she would be teased for having a boy's name. What's your thoughts on Rowan (please be honest) or do you have any other suggestions. Thanks ❤️

I only know of boys called rowan so for me it’s 100% a boys name, and not a particularly nice one. Blends in with all the other roman, Rohan, ronan names.

Nature names are all totally unisex so no worries with Rowan used on a girl :) It's a nice name.

I really like it as either a boys’ name or a girls’ name.

DS had a teacher (woman) with this name, who’d be in her late 30s, so it’s nothing new to use it as a girl’s name.

It’s not frilly, because it’s really cool sounding for a girl. Leagues ahead of Rowena, and preferable to Rosemary, too.

My DD is Rowan, named after a female friend Rowan, so I don’t see it as a boys name.
I know a male Rohan which is pronounced the same but is from TLOTR.

I really like it especially for a girls name. I like the fact it's not too girly, unusual and related to nature.

As a teacher I've taught many girl Rowans and it's never occurred to me that is a boy's name . It's lovely

I think it’s nice. The only one I know is a girl, so I don’t see it as only a boy name. I see it as unisex, would suit a boy or a girl.

I don't think she'd be teased as it's gained popularity for girls, although personally I hate boys names being claimed by girls and subsequently dropping out of favour for boys. I only know boys called it but none are children.

Totally agree. Funnily enough it never goes the other way with previously girls' names being used for boys. Nice name though, that aside.

Teacher of many names. Most Rowans are girls these days, occasionally boys. Lovely name , Don't be put off!

Rowan. Lovely name. The tree's other name is a Mountain Ash. If you choose Rowan, she will probably get called 'Ro' in future years? Still ok.

The baby was due in August, it’s an old thread. @Babydo22 as the thread has been revived, did you choose Rowan in the end?

@Catswhisky We had a beautiful baby boy so didn't use Rowan in the end but it's definitely still on the list if I ever have a girl in the future. Thanks everyone for your comments! So glad alot of you love it 😊

Didn’t realise this was an old thread! Congratulations op - shame as you could have used Rowan either way 😂 But at least now you can save it just in case.
