We would use Callie as a nickname! 🥰

I like "Callie", though

mizzo · 23/03/2022 13:56

I find it a bit clunky. Callie is lovely though.

HomeHomeInTheRange · 23/03/2022 14:08

Great name.

I would use Calista though. Can still be Callie.

cptartapp · 23/03/2022 14:09

Immediately thought of calliper.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 23/03/2022 14:11

Calista was on my list for DD1 it's a beautiful name

Meandthesky · 23/03/2022 14:28

Love it

Isonthecase · 23/03/2022 14:54

@LaMarschallin @mocktail I assumed it was the Greek vs Roman thing too but not sure. Either way, do love the name Ursa and there are some gorgeous Greek names like Artemis, Athene, Calypso, Calliope, Penelope, and Cleo, all of which my DH vetoed for ridiculous reasons like 'doesnt go with the surname' or 'sounds like an ice cream.'

callingon · 23/03/2022 17:06

Callisto was Xena’s nemesis on Xena Warrior Princess - which may or may not recommend it.

Feeellostindirection · 23/03/2022 17:07

Not keen, sounds like a brand of coffee

Roselilly36 · 23/03/2022 17:23

Lovely

TatianaBis · 23/03/2022 18:15

Prefer Callisto. Really dislike Callie.

lovescats3 · 23/03/2022 18:31

Isn't it spelt calista?

17caterpillars1mouse · 23/03/2022 18:34

I love the NN Callie

Callista is very pretty, it's not really my style but I could actually see it growing on me.

Yes I think I like it actually

QuentininQuarantino · 23/03/2022 18:45

It makes me think of the cabin pressure episode where they are discussing whether Calista Flockheart is person who isn't evil but has an evil sounding name:

Douglas: "Calista is from the latin for "beautiful," and Flockheart, what could be nicer than a flock of hearts?"

Carolyn: Calista, suggesting callouses and blisters, "Flock" suggesting flog, pluck and pick, "Callista Flockheart," the calloused, blistered one who comes to flog and pluck your heart.

peaceinourtime · 24/03/2022 00:20

Flockhart but I doubt her peers would make that connection and know of Callista Flockhart. It is has lots of shorting/nickname potential too.

urbanbuddha · 24/03/2022 00:27

Sorry, I think it sounds like a piece of medical equipment.
Calypso?

groovergirl · 24/03/2022 05:26

Beautiful. Do it.

I've never seen Ally McBeal (despite being Gen X) and your DD's generation won't have, either. Callista works well with all the Olivias and Islas being born now, is easy to spell and pronounce, yet is distinctive.

collieresponder88 · 24/03/2022 06:42

I prefer callia

GeneLovesJezebel · 24/03/2022 06:44

Callie is nice, Callista is not. Like pp said, it sounds like a treatment for thrush.

DockOTheBay · 24/03/2022 06:52

I prefer Calliope for Callie, but Callista is nice too. Unusual but not too weird, most people will be able to spell and pronounce it.

VickerishAllsort · 24/03/2022 10:44

Love it. If I wasn't done with breeding I'd definitely chose Callista. So pretty without being poncy.
