You don't hear this name too much anymore (or at least I don't!).

What are peoples opinions please?

And would you spell Jody as above, or Jodie?

Thanks!

The adult Jodie I know is very beautiful and extremely bossy.

tearinghairout · 19/03/2022 22:35

I know a male Jody. It's an OK name. Jodie was very popular for girls in the 70s and 80s and was only slightly classier than Tracey.

Gardeningcreature · 19/03/2022 22:36

I like it.
I agree Jody for a boy, Jodie for a girl.
Don't know many. There was a girl in dcs class called Jodie, she's an adult now.

My name’s Jodie and I’m here to stand in solidarity with JodienotJody!

I was named after Jody from The Red Pony by John Steinbeck. I’ve always liked my (our!) name because it’s unusual and unisex.

LakeIsle48 · 20/03/2022 00:16

Love it for a boy or girl ❤

LakeIsle48 · 20/03/2022 00:19

Both Jodies, one for a boy and one for a girl. The boy is quirky, creative and smart. Jodie, girl, is funny, popular and very kind

Scaredofburnout · 20/03/2022 00:23

I’m a Jodie ☺️Late 20s, I don’t mind my name it’s definitely unusual. But some amazing actresses with the namer recently (Jodie Comer and Jodie Whittaker)

LakeIsle48 · 20/03/2022 00:25

Wow Jody from Steinbeck, brilliant author. Apols for incorrect spelling. Very cool name. Actually both are creative. Creative in a beautiful way

user1471601171 · 20/03/2022 02:03

I agree with the bully comment. It’s a nice enough name but I much prefer Josie.

Susu49 · 20/03/2022 02:05

I've never met a Jodie I liked (although I'm sure @JodienotJody is lovely!)

Jody for a boy is cool (not Judy for a boy which is what my phone likes)

Susu49 · 20/03/2022 02:06

Also @Scaredofburnout I'm sure you're lovely too!

KosherDill · 20/03/2022 02:09

@Strawberry33

No I don’t think it’s nice at all. It’s dated but not in a classy way. It’s in the same category as “Trisha” or the like…
Agree. It's chavvy.

Imagine it on an adult professional? Just, no.

greenteafiend · 20/03/2022 02:40

Not keen. Sounds like a name for a labrador.

Happymiraclemorning · 20/03/2022 07:19

I love Jodie, I had Josie on my list so similar

itsgettingweird · 20/03/2022 07:33

@Roselilly36

I love Jody (boy) or Jodie (girl) great choice.
Another who agrees with this.

Jody John or Jodie Louise sound nice to me.

Hi Jodie!

I've always loved our name too. I like that it's easily recognisable as a name but not so common that every other woman my age is called it.
My best friend is Claire and there's three in our friendship group alone!

I speak in public a lot for my job and I've never been embarrassed to announce my name in public and it's never crossed my mind that people might think it's 'chavvy'!

Hi Jodie! 👋🏻
JodienotJody · 20/03/2022 09:07

I'm an adult professional called Jodie. I'm a senior academic at a university. I'm the youngest Head of Department at my institution and I travel the world talking about my subject.

Being called Jodie clearly hasn't held me back 🤷🏼‍♀️

Crunchymum · 20/03/2022 09:27

It's a bit dated. Definitely the name of girls I went to school with (along with Danielle, Joanne, Natalie etc)

Nothing wrong with it per se though.

👏👏👏👏

What holds people back is others prejudices over a name. Not the name.

It's like naming your child Sebastian thinking it'll stop them being a thug and ending up in prison!

A name doesn't make a person.

Absolutely! I couldn't agree more!!
It's never, ever occurred to me that it was a name worthy of judgement! The only issue I've had is people not spelling it correctly. I get Jody an awful lot.

I'm a Jodie Louise too - I noticed your suggestion that it goes well together 😊

Titsflyingsouth · 20/03/2022 10:24

Really dislike it for either sex. However the only two people I've knew called Jodie were nasty vicious bullies - so my view is tainted.

ReeseWitherfork · 20/03/2022 11:18

Imagine it on an adult professional? Just, no.

Crikey, I'd have thought the biggest drawback of being called Jodie/Jody was constantly being told that Jimmy quit.

VivienneDelacroix · 20/03/2022 11:20

I like it for a boy, not so much for a girl.

Haha I played that song at my wedding and loved shouting ' and Jodie got married' 😂😂
