What does everyone prefer?

We also like Lily so we would have Lily for short.

Lillian

SparkleSpangle · 17/03/2022 21:27

Lillian

Lyanna will get called lier at school or it will be abreviated to Ly

HeartshapedFox · 17/03/2022 21:31

Lillian is lovely!

toastofthetown · 17/03/2022 21:31

I really dislike Lillian. It's so clunky sounding and if you are just going to call her Lily anyway, I'd use that. So of the two, I prefer Lyanna, but I don't see how Lily works as a nickname for it. I also think there was a Lyanna in Game of Thrones, but I think that cultural reference is dying a bit.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 17/03/2022 21:32

Lillian is really nice.

Pixilicious · 17/03/2022 21:33

Lillian by a million miles

ISeeTheLight · 17/03/2022 21:36

Lyanna is VERY game of thrones.

DD has a Lilianna in her class; you might like that.

Personally I'd just go with Lily though, it's lovely.

canyoubelievethat · 17/03/2022 21:37

Lillian

Velvetbee · 17/03/2022 21:38

Lillian is gorgeous.

ButtockUp · 17/03/2022 21:39

Lyanna might be taken to be pronounced as ' Lie-Anna.'

Just a thought.

tigerbird · 17/03/2022 21:41

Out of the two I prefer Lillian; but have you thought about Lilia? Beautiful and a little bit of an unusual name, and Lily for short of course works perfectly.

ConfusedFlower · 17/03/2022 21:44

Thanks SO much everyone so much to take in.

Lilianna is beautiful!!!

I like Elizabeth nn Lily - more options than Lillian

Lilith is quite nice

I think Lilianna is very fussy, like Pollyanna - and Lilia / Lyanna a bit nothing-y.

I do like Luella though, if you are up for anything different.

thebellsesmereldathebells · 17/03/2022 21:50

I like Lilian, with one L. It was my grandmother's name and I think it's so elegant, delicate but not fussy.

I also love Lilias, from the Secret Garden.

Not keen on Lyanna, it sounds a bit faddy to me, and I think Lilliana is odd.

peaceinourtime · 17/03/2022 21:56

Lila is also nice its not long and chunky and can be shorted to Lily.

WeasilyPleased · 17/03/2022 22:01

Lilian is such a pretty name as is Lily.

RewildingAmbridge · 17/03/2022 22:06

I came on to suggest Liliana it was my (Columbian) Spanish teacher's name, and you could still use Lily as a nn

ISeeTheLight · 17/03/2022 22:08

Actually yes I think it's spelled Liliana with one n!

ConfusedFlower · 17/03/2022 22:11

Thanks we are leaning towards Liliana and Lilian at the moment Smile

Lilian or Liliana

Or Lyla / Leila

Lyanna sounds made up and like 'Lie-Anna'.

lottiegarbanzo · 17/03/2022 22:16

Or Lilia, that's really nice.

RaraRachael · 17/03/2022 22:17

How is Lyanna pronounced - Lee-anna or Lie-anna? If it's to be the first one, it might be better spelt Leanna

Babdoc · 17/03/2022 22:19

Lillian is probably due a revival. It was popular a century ago, and usually shortened to Lil.
I had a Geordie aunt Lil, born in 1903. Think it was quite popular in the East End then too.

tearinghairout · 17/03/2022 22:21

Not keen. Fag-ash Lil. Haven't heard of the other one. Lily, though, is gorgeous.
