Annie Matilda

Do you just instantly think musicals?

Other options are
Annie Blossom
Annie Lilybeth
Annie Freya

Thanks :)

Yes too musical for me I like Annie Freya from your list.

Rrrob · 11/03/2022 14:54

Interesting. I have an Annie. Currently 17 weeks and if this baby is a girl, Matilda is top of my list!

1stTimeMama · 11/03/2022 14:56

Matilda wasn't a musical originally, so I wouldn't automatically think stage show. I also think the two work best together out of your options.

Matilda has been a name we've liked for since 1st dd was born but for different reasons we haven't used it. It came down to Annie and Matilda with current pregnant but partner prefers Annie!

Does it really matter if it's a bit "musical" if you like them use them Annie is a lovely name

It doesn't necessarily matter .. however could be a bit 'twee' as my girls are all into dance and musical theatre performances .. however I love the names because of the musicals!

Very different vibes.
I don't like them together.

Howshouldibehave · 11/03/2022 15:04

I love the name Ann/Anne or Annie but I don’t think it really goes with any of your suggested middle names.

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/03/2022 15:09

I wouldn't worry about musicals, although I would use a full name and Annie as a nn, just to give her options, as Annie is quite cutsey - eg Anna Matilda, Annabel Matilda, Annis Matilda.

Blossom and Lilybeth are dripping wet. Freya is lovely but Annie Freya doesn't really go.

Agree with all of this! Anna is a favourite name of mine. I know one Annie, she is an Anastasia.
Comefromaway · 11/03/2022 15:18

Annie & Matilda together would make me think musicals.

Separately not so much.

Snowbell99 · 11/03/2022 15:23

No, it's fine. Anyway musicals are not a bad association.

Annie is too cute, I prefer Annabel or are more formal name. But Annie Matilda is nice. The other combinations don't work as well.

I'd pick something like Annabel Matilda nickname Annie.

Definitely wouldn't pair it with Lilybeth, it makes it too cutesy. I also would avoid Blossom, in combination they sound more like the name of a farm animal in a story.

DumplinsInTheStewDarlin · 11/03/2022 15:26

It's fine, not a problem.

Comefromaway · 11/03/2022 15:35

I'd love to have three girls called Angelica, Eliza & Peggy!

thecatwhogotthecream · 11/03/2022 17:16

I like Annie blossom

thecatwhogotthecream · 11/03/2022 17:18

@Comefromaway Peggy? Really? I associate that with Peggy Mitchell who was not my cup of tea at all. Far too rough and common. And it's a very old lady name although these do seem to be coming into fashion.so many old peoples names coming back and it's not floating my boat at all

MissCarolina · 11/03/2022 17:20

All your middle name options are great. Annie Matilda sounds lovely. I do love a musical though!

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 11/03/2022 17:28

Annie Blossom or Annie Freya both gorgeous. I probably would avoid Annie Matilda for the reason you said.

ShowOfHands · 11/03/2022 17:33

@Comefromaway
is referencing the musical Hamilton! Or more specifically, the Schuyler sisters.

I like Annie Matilda. Most people won't use the middle name.

My aunt was Annie Miriam which I quite like too.

WhoppingBigBackside · 11/03/2022 20:51

Annie Matilda - ok
Annie Blossom - not keen on Blossom
Annie Lilybeth - good god no. Lilybeth sounds like Willybreath
Annie Freya - ok

lottiegarbanzo · 11/03/2022 21:00

Annie Matilda is the best combination and sounds good.

I don't think of musicals at all, though might with Annie. Matilda is too popular a name to make such a specific connection. That Matilda was a book anyway, the stage show is just an adaptation.

The thread title had me expecting Melody, or similar.

Alrightqueenie · 12/03/2022 07:01

I'd switch to Anna and spell the middle name in the European way as Matilde so it's Anna Matilde. Far classier and less Broadway musical and Annie can be used as an nn.

gogohm · 12/03/2022 07:20

I think of Annie as a shortening. I'm glad I have a formal name

fancyfrogs · 12/03/2022 07:29

Yes to me, Annie Matilda makes me think of the musicals straight away.
Really don't like blossom or lilybeth, Freya is lovely but agree with pps and don't think Annie Freya goes

IAmSantaOhYesIAm · 12/03/2022 10:27

I have an Oliver and liked Annie when I pregnant with dc2. I was worried my children would both have orphan names!!! Then dc2 was a boy so didn’t matter anyway!
I think Annie Matilda sounds lovely and it’s not often you use the middle name anyway so go for it.
