I love Aditi. Get some goddess power for your baby!

Excuse my ignorance, but how is Aarohi pronounced? AR-o-hee?

Applecherrypie · 27/02/2022 22:13

@groovergirl Thanks, I love the meaning of Aditi! Aarohi is pronounced Aa (like Car) - Ro (shortish o sound like the O in Orchid) and then Hee

Aditi is awesome.

I would say Aditi because I think (if you’re in the UK) Aarohi might cause issues with people not knowing how to pronounce it etc. Plus having said them both out loud I think Aditi has a nicer sound as well.

I really like Aditi :)

Unless you’re talking to Indians nobody will pronounce Aditi correctly (it’s a soft d). And depending on your background a hard d could open up to teasing - growing up in Leicestershire I knew a few Aditis. Many of them were teased by being called A Dutti (belly button in Gujarati) or A Dippy. And that was amongst Indian kids. The name was butchered even more by non-Indians - A-die-ti.

Aarohi works really well in the USA and the UK provided you don’t mind it being pronounce Aa-rau-hee.

Aditi

Lovely and much easier on pronunciation if you’re in the UK

Thanks everyone. Seems like Aditi is the winner here !
