Angelica Joy or Evangeline Joy?

Or Angelica Faith or Evangeline Faith?

Or Angelica Hope or Evangeline Hope?

What's your favourite of each, and what's your overall number one?

(We are practicing Christians so although some of the names might have religious connotations, we like this, although I know it might put some people off.)

Hi OP, as you know I'm an Angelica! I do think that Evangeline is a little more unusual (I knew an older girl with this name at school, but she's the only one I've ever met) I have met a few other Angelicas, but not all that many, maybe around 6 or 7 (mostly around my age too, early to mid 20s, it that makes any difference)

As for middle names, I prefer Joy, second choice would be Faith.

Have you considered that your child won't always be a child, and may not share your faith? In that context, the names you're considering might be a bit of a millstone. I think it's a bit weird and crass to name your child something so obviously agenda-carrying, personally.

Thank you for the comments everyone! What a tough choice. I think I'll knock Faith off the middle name contenders list.

Do you think Angelica has the same religious connotations as Evangeline? (I like the religious connotations, but am just curious)

To some, both Evangeline and Angelica will come across as pretty, feminine names.

I think Evangeline is more closely associated with religion thanks to its close relationship to the word evangelical. Angelica is obv related to angels but angels as a concept can carry a wide variety of meanings.

Angelica Faith is lovely.

Evangeline without the EV is Angeline. I had Evangeline, Seraphina on my list but DH vetoed both names. I do like Angelica bit prefer Angelo another name DH vetoed for our son. Talk about being unequally yoked 😂

Ang or Evie?

Personally I'm sick of Evie. They are everywhere. But I don't like the short Ang either.

Both Evangeline and Angelica are very pretty names, and I love the name Joy.

I don’t think that @sadpapercourtesan ‘s comment was that odd though. As an atheist who grew up in a Christian family, I am quite glad I’m the sibling with a ‘normal’ name (Biblical but also used by non-religious people). But then all parents - religious or not - name babies depending on their own preferences, as you never know what the child will think in the future.

It wasn't an odd comment at all. I was pointing out that your child will one day be an autonomous adults with opinions/beliefs that may differ from yours, so it might be better not to give them a name that screams "evangelical Christian".

DH and I are hippy bushcrafty types. We didn't name our kids "Rainbow Silver-Birch" or similar, much as it would have been fun. Because our kids are people, and it's unfair to saddle them with a name that links them to an identity they may not want.

I’d worry Angelica would be Angie. Joy is a lot to live up to (slightly makes me think of builders telling women to smile, also the only one I knew was a misery), Faith is OK - but everyone needs Hope.

Ah Seraphina in lovely - I had a wonderful cousin called that, and she was angelic. Are you sure you can’t talk him round?!

Ooh, now Seraphina is beautiful. Seraphina Hope. Lovely.

They are nice name but my initial thought was 'Serena Joy' and another poster said the same. So I'd maybe avoid Joy for that reason.

That's true, but there's a lot in between "some connotations" and "thumping people over the head with the connotations". Surely you can see that some names are more overtly agenda-carrying than others.

I don't give a hoot about faith personally - I really like some biblical names and loathe others. What puts me off Evangeline is the vagina similarity.
