Giuliano for a boy? Want Jules as a nn. Misspellings wouldn’t be a problem for us where we live.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I like it.

StrychnineIntheSandwiches · 06/02/2022 13:17

although, assuming you're in Italy (?) from your post, would Jules with a J be an unusual shortening there?

Luredbyapomegranate · 06/02/2022 14:45

Sure, assuming you are Italian/live there

Otherwise w no connection his life w be easier as Julius etc in the English speaking world

Blubells · 06/02/2022 15:53

Giuliano is a great name.

I also like the English version Julian.

Yes we live in Italy, husband is Italian, but I’m British :) thank you for the feedback/comments …

I love it. Sounds nice and rolls of the tongue nicely.

It's very unfair of me, but it reminds me of Rudy Guiliani which would put me off.

I do like Jules as a nickname though. And if I met your child and was told his name was Guiliano I wouldn't think it was awful, I'd just think "Rudy" because that's how my brain works.

sadpapercourtesan · 06/02/2022 20:19

I realise I've spelt it wrong several times in my post, fingers used to typing "guilty" I suppose Blush

If you're in Italy, you'll know it's really really old-fashioned.
In 27 years of teaching, I don't recall ever having a Giuliano teenager. There have been less than a hundred born every year since 2016.
I'd presume any young Giuliano had been named after a grandfather, as is the case with Giulio, though there are a few more of those.
