How long is too long?

We are getting married and I am pregnant
I’d like to double barrel ours and the baby’s name,
but with our names combined it is 5 syllables and 18 letters.
Is that too much? It’s obviously not ideal, but we both want to keep our names and we both want to have the whole family with the same name, they do sound nice together, it’s just suuuuper long! - would we be making a massive mistake?

Both my daughters have 2 middle names and a double barrelled surname. If they want to shorten their names when they’re older they can.

Some children my DDs were at school with had a 15 letter non English surname. At the parents suggestion, a shorter 6 letter version was used in the younger years and then the parents gradually taught them how to spell their full names.

Its your name. Be proud of it, share it with your children. I regret not keeping mine as a middle name and giving to DDs as an extra middle name. I don't regret taking DHs as its genuinely cool (I know that's a cliche. It really is though.)
@HotHointheavo thank you! That makes me feel better
Has she has any issues with forms? I read that if it’s too long it won’t go on your passport / license

I’ll be 38 letters with my first name middle name and new surname
And every name is a difficult to spell non English name Blush at least I’m used to spelling everything out already Grin
Had absolutely no problems at all!
Passport all fine, Bank card just middle initials.

Do whatever suits you! Bugger the opinions. And really so what if it all doesnt fit on a form - put what does :)
