Juliet, Charlotte, Scarlett, or Violet?

Which is your favorite? And which seems like it would best fit someone fabulously romantic and witty? Someone who loves to read in a heathery, wildflower field and could lead a Jane Austen novel? Thank you Star

Juliet fits your description best imo

Violet and Scarlett I find a bit more...brash

I love Charlotte, but it's more formal than romantic imo

Is this for a book?

Juliet although I might be slightly biased as it was on our list Smile

Marcipex · 30/01/2022 19:30

Juliet

Cheekypeach · 30/01/2022 19:31

Juliet

I think they all work for your specs, but Lottie is just too gorgeous to lose my vote...

cherrytopcake · 30/01/2022 19:37

Charlotte

Alexaplaysomething · 30/01/2022 19:37

I knew someone called Juliet, shortened to Jet for friends which I thought was cool.

danascully96 · 30/01/2022 19:38

@JessicaJacket Not writing a book, I just know that “romantic” has a lot of different connotations, so I thought I would elaborate a little without (hopefully) being too moony.

I know that not everyone cares about whether a name is romantic, so I thought I’d ask what everyone’s fav is along with asking which is the most romantic. Thank you for your feedback!

Juliet (was on my list), really like it.
I’m pretty ambivalent about the rest.

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/01/2022 19:41

Juliet is definitely romantic and witty. And often takes a bottle of wine to the field which she cools in the stream.

Violet is her sidekick. She has whisky in her bag.

There are too many Charlottes for it to conjure up anything anymore, lovely though it is
Scarlett is Not Austin, and has had its day

Louisa, Caroline, Susannah, Flora, Verity, Felicity, Frances, Esther, Honor, Adela, Adeline, Serena, Julia, Lydia, Edith & Emma might all also fit the bill.

Thirtytimesround · 30/01/2022 19:56

Juliet or Violet but for me I prefer Julietta or Violetta…

Love this. But Violet has sambuca or absinthe and you know it GrinWink

@Luredbyapomegranate I adore Louisa, Caroline, Susannah, Felicity, Serena, and Julia!! Honor is impossibly cool and Bond-esque. It should definitely be used more! So many of the names you suggested fit my aesthetic perfectly, thank you 💕

I would choose Juliet because I think it’s just the nicest name from the list. I dislike Violet and Scarlett and think Charlotte is nice but very popular.

I wouldn’t worry too much about fitting your aesthetic or sounding like someone who reads in a heathery wildflower field if this is a name for your child. They’ll be whoever they are so I think it’s more important to pick the name you love the most.

Kanaloa · 30/01/2022 20:16

And if she was the lead in a Jane Austen I imagine she’d probably be called something plain and fitting to the time (Lizzy, Emma, Jane, Catherine, Lydia etc).

Mumofgirls2017 · 30/01/2022 20:22

Definitely Juliet- beautiful

ofwarren · 30/01/2022 20:25

Juliet.
That was my "girls" name but we only had boys.

Ellmau · 30/01/2022 20:29

Juliet, definitely. For both questions.

foxgoosefinch · 30/01/2022 20:35

I like Juliet or Charlotte, but Charlotte (cf Bronte) is more nineteenth century (Juliet is not very nineteenth century). Scarlett is also pretty, but more modern - and I’m not fond of Violet, which says Edwardian to 1920s for me.

If you want Romantic and 19thc novel style, why not Clarissa/Emily/Lydia/Catherine/Marianne/
Christabel/Mariana/Dorothea/Rosamond etc.?

In fact, Marianne and Rosamond are very much the feel you want and a bit more unusual! Christabel too!

Samanabanana · 30/01/2022 20:41

Juliet
