So which do you think is the nicest of these 2 for a girl ? Ada or Fiadh ?

Also would really appreciate a boy's name to go with Freddie, really struggling with coming up with a boy's name (Won't be finding out what I am having until the birth so need to be prepared !)

So many baby Fiadhs in the last year or so.

Siofra ?

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 24/01/2022 21:01

Yeah, definitely swerve Fiadh if you're looking for something slightly different. Ireland is overrun with tiny Fiadhs, delightful as I'm sure they all are.

Ada but it was my DGM's name so I may be biased I can also spell Ada which would help.

I think Freddie and Teddy, turning into Fred and Ted as they grow up, is perfectly okay.
Fred and Fiadh is very similar looking, especially when handwritten. You might like Síofra or Síomha?

@lbm06

I do try and steer away from names that are too popular and maybe I am living under a rock but I have not yet come across a Fiadh and my DH has never even heard of the name but loves it... maybe I need to rethink that one tho 🙈. Do you think Theo with the nn Teddy is too similar to my DS name Freddie ?

Any other lovely girl name suggestions ? 😊

Fiadh is the second most popular girls name in Ireland! Like you however I had to politely listen to 4!!!! different friends from different groups tell me they called their daughter Fiadh as it’s ‘so unusual’ @lbm06
Anotherdayanotheropinon · 25/01/2022 14:15

Actually Fiadh/Fia/Fiadh (with fada) is the most popular girls name as the app splits out the different spellings.

If you want to look at what names are popular you can check here:

Ok i think I need to scratch Fiadh off my list if it is that popular. Thanks for the link @Anotherdayanotheropinon I will have a look !

I was going to suggest Thea as OP likes Fiadh and Theo.
RockinHorseShit · 25/01/2022 18:58

Fiadh is beautiful

lbm06 · 26/01/2022 12:56

Yes I am in Ireland so worried about when DD starts school there will be many other Fiadhs in her class. I really love the name but dont want it to be the case like in DD1s class there are at least 3 Avas

It's a lovely name but if you're picking it because you think it's a bit different, lots of other parents have had the exact same thought in the past 5 years. It ticks the box for short girls' name ending in A sound, like Mia and Ava, and it also ticks the Irish box. So I can see why it's whooshed up the charts.

I do like the name Thea but it just reminds of the name Anthea which I am not keen on
