Always liked this name. What do you think?
Any ideas which middle names sound good with it?

I know too many girl Jessys to like it for a boy. It is a female name to me.

I have a boy Jesse everyone loves it and it suits him perfectly I've not heard of any girls called Jessie since I was at school and never had anyone refer to you big Jessie either I think that's an older persons saying now

HailAdrian · 14/01/2022 21:28

It's a great name, I love it.

dementedma · 14/01/2022 21:29

Definitely still a common insult in Scotland.

BonnesVacances · 14/01/2022 21:31

Love it! If I was having a DS now, I'd choose it.

TTCfirstbabyx · 15/01/2022 20:50

My husband is called Jesse and as a male he really dislikes it and says he is glad he was tall enough not to be bullied for it.
However lots of people do like his name and say it suits him.
I know it is more popular now then when he was growing up so times could have changed.
Best wishes with whatever you choose :) xx

@Cbeebiesrehab

I think we should probably encourage people not to use homophobic slurs rather than encourage people not to use lovely boys names.

Go for it OP, it’s a gorgeous name and my hypothetical third child’s name (although apparently that’s my style as I gave my DS a ‘girly’ name too🙄)

Absolutely this!! We have a Jesse and I still absolutely love it and have had so many compliments on his name. Go for it!
TrashyPanda · 17/01/2022 13:47

It’s not homophobic - calling someone a Jesse is equivalent to saying they are wet, wimpy or a plonker.

Where I'm from in Scotland it's used as an insult for a boy who cries/whinges at the slightest wee thing such as dropping an ice pole - as in 'stop bein a wee jessie and get anither ice pole oot the freezer'

I wouldn't use it and I gave DS a name that is predominantly used for girls

MangoLipstick · 17/01/2022 14:03

I love the name Jesse for a boy. If we have a boy next, I think that name will be on our list!

Seainasive · 17/01/2022 14:11

It’s a good strong biblical name where I come from! (Forrin Grin)

Love it!

Tsuni · 26/02/2022 15:54

I've heard Jessie still being used to mean "wimp" within the past couple of years.

Tsuni · 26/02/2022 15:55

I am in Scotland though.

Blubells · 26/02/2022 16:25
