Our baby is only a few days old. We had a list of names pre-birth and we’ve got it down to two. Husband has a slight preference for one, but is happy with either. I really can’t decide. Would be interested to know what people think.

The two names are Agatha or Guinevere. And yes, would properly get shortened to Aggie or Guinie.

Thanks.

I knew a Guinevere when I was younger and thought her name was wonderful.
Her family called her Jinny or Gwyn.

Agatha is pretty great too.

Of the two, Agatha, probably with the diminutive Taggie.

I prefer Agnes though.

I love beautiful, romantic/poetic sounding Guinevere - it would be on my list for girl if I were a bit braver. But if you are considering Agatha you are obviously braver than me anyway, so I would go for it! If she does turn out to be a shyer child who doesn't want to stand out, Guinevere at least has the bonus of more commonplace potential nn's too (Gwen, Eve/Evie, Neve etc).

I really want to love Agatha as I'm a huge Christie fan - but it's just such a harsh sound on top of the super strong "elderly aunt" vibe imo.
