Debating between two names and two middle names

Mia Rose or Una Rose
Mia Violet or Una Violet

Which one do you prefer?

Any longer or other name suggestions as an alternative welcome!

Una over Mia. 100% Mia is very overused. I don't live the combination of Una Violet but Rose is a filler middle name so defo not that!

MaternityNurse007 · 10/01/2022 16:12

Mia and I do like Mia Rose

itwasntaparty · 10/01/2022 16:19

It's Oonagh in our family and I love it but t must be a PITA to keep spelling it all the time. Seems softer than Una somehow.

Mimilamore · 10/01/2022 16:25

Una for sure... either middle name is nice

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 10/01/2022 16:27

I always think Oonagh looks so loud and awkward.

Crunched · 10/01/2022 16:34

@user97426

Mia - una wouldn't be very popular in Ireland for a baby most unas are 50+
I see that as an advantage though, it's nice to stand out.
Justkeeppedaling · 10/01/2022 16:39

Isn't Una usually spelled Oonagh?
(Una Stubbs, I know)

I would pronounce Una as Yewna, but that might be my Welsh accent.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 10/01/2022 16:43

In Ireland it's spelt Una and pronounced Oona, rather than yewna. I've never met an Irish Oonagh, there may be some but it's rare. That's an anglicised spelling.

Justkeeppedaling · 10/01/2022 17:02

Charlie Chaplin's wife (one of them) was a Oonagh

Edenember · 10/01/2022 17:50

Una Rose

user1493494961 · 10/01/2022 17:56

Mia.

8stone13 · 10/01/2022 18:02

Una, without question. An underused and lovely name. I know what feels like hundreds of little girls called Mia...

I always think that Rose (along with Grace) has become this generation's Louise (or Jane) for middle names! That doesn't make it any less delightful though. It was the runner up for a first name for my DD, with Viola (not Violet) also on there.

Chunkymenrock · 10/01/2022 18:06

Mia Violet. Rose is totally and utterly done to death everywhere as a middle name.

sadpapercourtesan · 10/01/2022 18:07

Una Violet. Mia is such a nothing name, and Rose is done to death.

VioletBlanche · 11/01/2022 22:49

Una Violet is my favourite
Mia is nice but is a little too popular right now

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/01/2022 23:04

Oona all the way, but spelt like that ideally
Oona Violet

The world has enough Mia Roses to last us till the end of time

Oona / Una is great and very underused

Hairyfriend · 11/01/2022 23:12

My 90yr old neighbour is Una, and its definitely due a comeback and less common than Mia. I have no idea about the Irish/Welsh pronunciations, but she says Yew-Na, not OO-Na.

DontTellThemYourNamePike · 12/01/2022 00:47

Una. Fabulous name. Finn MacCool's wife in Irish legend. She was the brains of the outfit!!
