Or has it had its day? Debating with DP.

When I read the thread title I thought it was about Luna period pants from Sainsbury’s still feeling fresh after a certain amount of time!
Definitely would use it for a name. Likely to get called loopy Luna in school if HP is still popular then

KirstenBlest · 07/01/2022 08:10

No.

dementedpixie · 07/01/2022 08:14

It was our cats name until we found out they were a boy and had to change it

Nitgel · 07/01/2022 08:15

1980s tv show with Patsy Kensit as Luna. Was a bit odd really. It does make u think of lunatic

nannybeach · 07/01/2022 08:17

Name of my border collie

ShowOfHands · 07/01/2022 08:17

So many cats and dogs called Luna here. Plus my baby niece and a friend's toddler. If by fresh, you mean uncommonly used, Luna is not the name you want.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 07/01/2022 08:18

I'd say it has peaked.

ofwarren · 07/01/2022 08:21

I'd say it has peaked too. Nice name though imo.

Ginpostersyndrome · 07/01/2022 08:26

I think it sounds fresh still. The oldest I know is 13 and I know very few so maybe that's why I think that. I really like it.

Riverlee · 07/01/2022 08:29

If you like it, use it.

Ceramide · 07/01/2022 08:33

Had its day IMO. Lena?

Chunkymenrock · 07/01/2022 08:36

Luna sounds like Loony, so it's the opposite to 'fresh' to me. Avoid at all costs.

emmathedilemma · 07/01/2022 09:46

I think it's awful, and also the name of every other cockapoo in the park! If you called a child, 20 dogs would come running too!

ISmellBurnings · 07/01/2022 11:50

Definitely a dog’s name!

Viviennemary · 07/01/2022 11:55

Its dire. I wouldn't even saddle a cat with the name.

Kitkat151 · 07/01/2022 11:56

It’s a dogs name

NewYearNewKale · 07/01/2022 12:00

I have heard a dog called this just this week!

However I've thought it pretty in the past.

Maybe Serena? Or Selina?

TeeBee · 07/01/2022 12:03

Very much a pet name, not for a child. Akin to 'Rover'.

toastofthetown · 07/01/2022 12:04

<a class="break-all" href="//]names.darkgreener.com/#luna" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">As of 2020, Luna was still rising year on year, thought its climb is slowing. Luna will probably reach its peak in one of the next few data releases. Based on that, while not fresh, it's not stale yet either.

Whether you still think it sounds fresh or not is a different issue. Personally I'm sick of Luna and it's sounding tired to me, but then I pay more attention to name trends than most. On the other hand, someone described Luna as too out there a couple of years ago, so clearly the name hasn't reached saturation point for everyone. Names are personal and and someone thinks it's had it's day then that's true for them.

toastofthetown · 07/01/2022 12:06

Not really though. Luna was the 36th most popular names last year in England and Wales, while Rover has never been ranked for babies. Luna is more like Bella, Poppy, Max or Alfie.
Shannith · 07/01/2022 12:09

As everyone has said. Pet name. I know a cat and a horse called Luna. No children (thankfully).

Sorry but I think you should rethink. What is it about Luna you like? Sound? Meaning? - perhaps the experts on her can suggest some alternatives.

wetotter · 07/01/2022 17:30

It's a very, very common dogs name.

My pet theory is that people who like it, but think it's unfair to give to a human (because of the silent -tic) give it to their pets instead.

It'll sound furry, not fresh

pilates · 07/01/2022 17:36

I know a lot of dogs called Luna.

SnowyPetals · 07/01/2022 17:38

In my mind, Luna has a most impressive kaftan collection and knows all about crystal healing.

StopStartStop · 07/01/2022 17:44

Luna is a black dog. Like a retriever.
Call your child 'Lotus Blossom'. That's a nice name.
