Thoughts? Would it instantly be shortened to Julie which I don't like?
Anyone know any Juliana's?

Reminds me of Juliana Hatfield too.

Off to google her and see if she's still close to Evan Dando.

Oh, and I doubt very much that whether you pick Julia, Juliet or Juliana, you'd get Julie as a nn - Julie is a bit dated now in the UK. I've only gotten "Julie" when someone has misheard Julia or made an assumption - generally from older people because it was a popular name years ago (I know a few Julie's aged in their 50's and 60's).

I ran it past DH and he said it in a really flouncy elongated way 'Juliaarrrna'
It's the same reaction I got to Gabriella. He hasn't written it off though. He likes Marianne or Daphne, both of which are on the list.

Have you guys discussed Mariame or Marianela? Similar to Marianne, but I prefer both to that.

@IamnotwhouthinkIam

I'm a Julia and really like it - grateful to my parents for their classic and international choice! Smile. I've never been given a nickname at all and anecdotally the couple of other Julia's I've met over the years have been the same. I also really like elegant Juliet, but I don't know if the "Jules" nn is more commonplace for that or not.

Juliana is perhaps slightly "fancy" sounding for me personally (and I've never met one in RL) but Ana is a pretty nn, so I can see why you'd pick it.

No one calls you jules ? I'm surprised by that.

I love it!

Nope, and I actually don't mind Jules but everyone has automatically called me by my full name - I suppose it would be different if I'd introduced myself (or my parents had) as Jules. I don't think it's as automatic a nn as for some names (eg. Liv for Olivia, Sam for Samantha etc).

The Juliana I know is either Juliana or Jules.
She does complain about having to spell it all the time as people want to put anna

I like both and happily answer to both. It's been that way forever!

Well I wouldn’t call her that if you don’t like the idea of Juiie. Stick to Julia or Juliet. Or Juno,

Lookforwardtosummer · 18/01/2022 09:27

Juliet and Julia much nicer, imo.
