Opinions on Aurora and which middle name goes best
Aurora…
Grace
Eve
Faye
Belle
I was thinking a short middle name would go best but I think Isabella could go well too

Love it.
I don't know anything about Disney so wouldn't ever associate it with that.

Echobelly · 02/01/2022 10:03

I like Aurora. As long as her surname doesn't start with an 'R' which would sound a bit odd.

Aurora Grace works nicely but is a bit obvious somehow - as others say, rather overused as a middle name (Lila Grace Lily Grace Isabella Grace Olivia Grace etc etc), so perhaps I prefer Aurora Faye as a bit more interesting. Or maybe another 3-syllable name:

Eloise
Antonine
Adrienne
?

I think it’s an incredibly awkward name to say for many people.

musicalfrog · 02/01/2022 11:38

@Nathlash

I think it’s an incredibly awkward name to say for many people.
I'm so glad it's not just me! Grin
Worriedofkent · 02/01/2022 12:00

It’s lovely. Actually would have used it but my sister had ‘reserved’ it for my niece. I can’t see anyone having difficulty saying it. It’s also quite common in parts of Europe.

Niece lives in the Far East and while it’s unusual no one has difficulty with pronouncing it.

Never associated it with Disney more with Aurora Borealis.

strawberrymilk7 · 02/01/2022 12:17

I think it's beautiful. I wouldn't immediately associate it with a Disney princess. I wouldn't go with Belle. Maybe Grace or Faye

timoteigirl · 02/01/2022 15:37

I love the name Aurora and would go for Aurora Grace. My problem why I didn't choose this for my daughter is that it is hard to pronounce in English and the R-letters become vey weak which takes away from the name.

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 02/01/2022 15:40

I know an aurora who can't say her Rs
Auwarwa

I'd just go for the isabelle

SisterAgatha · 02/01/2022 15:43

It’s too much pursed lips for me, Aurora. I can’t make the sound without hard work. So I would not have a middle name, to cut back on syllables.

Ellmau · 02/01/2022 16:16

Aurora is a lovely nAme. Either Grace or Faye works nicely as a mn, Belle makes it a bit Disney and Eve does not flow well after an a.

Scirocco · 02/01/2022 16:19

I love Aurora, it's beautiful.

I think a short middle name (1-2 syllables) would go best, to balance out its 3 syllables. Not Belle, though - the combination is a bit too princessy. I like Faye, but my one reservation would be the abbreviation to AF.

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 02/01/2022 16:23

Aurora in my accent sounds like a chihuahua barking sorry uh-ruhruhruhruhrurhuh

BlwyddynNewydd2022 · 02/01/2022 16:27

I think it needs to start with a constant too for a middle.

Aurora Grace
Aurora Faye
Aurora Natalia

liveforsummer · 02/01/2022 16:29

I actually really like Aurora but I'd definitely avoid any other Disney princess names added on. Aurora Grace is nice.

liveforsummer · 02/01/2022 16:31

I like it. But the Disney associations might put me off. I’d avoid the one syllable cliche

What's the one syllable cliche? Never heard of that. Ds's middle name is Grace and had no idea about this 😆

user1471530109 · 02/01/2022 16:34

I know an Ellora. Fewer Rs...

MrsFezziwig · 02/01/2022 16:36

Middle name should start with a consonant not a vowel, otherwise you just get an R sound slurred into the middle name, which sounds horrible.

I know three Auroras, and I hardly know any children.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 02/01/2022 16:44

I love Aurora nickname Rorie.

I agree middle name should start with a consonant-what about Aurora Margaret?

Aurora Mary
Aurora Jane
Aurora Felicity

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 02/01/2022 16:46

Aurora Frances
Aurora Beatrice
Aurora Caroline
Aurora Charlotte
Aurora Sophia

WhoppingBigBackside · 02/01/2022 18:32

Aurora…
Grace
Eve
Faye
Belle

I'd rule out Aurora as it is a pig of a name if you can't say R

Aurora Grace - too many Rs
Aurora Eve - doesn't flow and it's a bit Dawn and Dusk
Aurora Faye sounds like a fairy
Aurora Belle - sounds like a boat's name

scottishnames · 02/01/2022 20:41

Before Disney, Aurora was a Latin name that means 'Dawn'. Typically, she had 'rosy fingers' (ie the rising sun's rays.) That's what I think of when I hear it. Dawn in English is not one of my favourite names. But that's just personal taste. However, as PP says, Aurora Eve = literally Dawn and Dusk.

Agree with Drama Alpaca that the TV drama inspired 'Rory' for a girl makes a nonsense of a completely unrelated old and distinguished Scottish/Irish MALE name that literally means ''Red King'.

Mumofgirls2017 · 02/01/2022 22:07

I have an Aurora Juliet and i love her name, she really suits it and we’ve had lots of compliments (although I may be biased!) she is a strong, outgoing happy girl and is as much into rugby as she is into princesses.

Other middles for Aurora

Aurora Daisy
Aurora Holly
Aurora Josephine
Aurora Beatrice
Aurora Pearl
Aurora Juno
Aurora Darcey
Aurora Willow
Aurora Maeve
Aurora Sadie
Aurora Charlotte
Aurora Daphne

Pigtree · 02/01/2022 23:13

How about Aurora Kate? I agree that we’d want to avoid too many vowels with the middle name and Kate came to mind

OP posts:
MerryChristmasToYou · 03/01/2022 18:55

Aurora Eve will get said as Aurora Reeve.

Eve means life/living, but the word also means evening before, so I'd avoid

Kate is nice

felulageller · 07/01/2022 05:59

It's a lovely name
