Pronounced Safeera. Nickname Saffy.
Meaning is from Sapphire, Gem, beautiful. It's a biblical name, although not a positive one.

Thought I'd the biblical story too and it's not a good name with that connection

Hmm, I also thought of the car because I have one. It's crap, too. Shame, because it's a pretty name.

I agree with PPs that Sapphire or Seraphina would be better.

Sapphira in the bible was struck down dead alonfg with her husband for being a liar. Not a name I'd use!

Love Seraphine/Seraphina but not keen on the Sera nickname at all. We don't mind the car connection, it's weak at best.

It’s not really that weak when everyone is pointing it out as their first thought. Why not Saffron if you like Saffy?

Definitely car, sorry OP, clearly quite a strong connection! I much prefer the simpler Saffron in any case.
