DH and I are expecting a little girl next month. We have absolutely no name for her and whilst it's no big deal right now I'd like to even have a few on a list we like.

DH likes 'normal' names by that he means people know them, relatively common and not difficult to spell.

I like the complete opposite but agree our surname causes enough issues so straightforward is best.

I only like names that I would describe as 'hard' names as in not very girly and delicate.

Any suggestions??

"hard name" to me would rule out all the "L" names like Lily, Lucy, Lisa and probably most of the two-syllable names ending in -ie or -y like Milly, Amy, Betty, Janie

Do you like Agatha?

Margot
Olive
Agnes
Nora
Astrid

All strong names which are feminine but not in the least bit delicate, and are familiar and easy to spell.

Maybe go somewhere in between? (names that are easy to spell and everyone knows but also classify as a ‘hard’ name).

Claudia fits the bill. Not super ‘pretty’. Underused. Familiar. Easy to spell.

I also love Bridget, but that’s more of a marmite name.

Whatever you name your DD there's a possibility she will have to spell it out. I have the most popular name if my year abs a very common short family name. I still have to spell both out regularly.

Just choose a name you live and don't worry about spelling it out.
