Surname will be Spanish beginning with C then very generic British one beginning with D...

So initials will be ABCD....

What do you think? And how would you pronounce Alicia?

Lovely names. I prefer A liss ee a

Ilikepalindromes · 19/12/2021 09:53

Nice. I prefer the Spanish Beatriz to Beatrice.

SirChenjins · 19/12/2021 09:54

I would pronounce it Ah-liss-ee-a - I prefer it that way. I know it’s also pronounced Al-ee-sha which I’m not so keen on.

The ABCD wouldn’t bother me.

BabbleBee · 19/12/2021 09:55

My friend has an Alicia and gets a mix of Ah-lee-sha and A-liss-e-a. Her DD also gets called Lissy.

It’s one of those names that you may have to get used to correcting people on. Beatrice is beautiful but that’s one of my DDs so I am bias!

FeedMeSantiago · 19/12/2021 09:57

I would pronounce Alicia as Ah-liss-ee-ah. The only Alicia I have met used that pronunciation and it was also how I was told to pronounce Alicia in Mallory Towers as a child.

The Alicia I knew was from school and she said she quite a few people people would pronounce it as Aleesha, especially as she got older (she was an early 90s baby).

Synchrony · 19/12/2021 12:01

I think it's nice.
I would pronounce it Ah-liss-ee-ah too. I don't like the Aleesha version but I think it's quite common now.

Crunchymum · 19/12/2021 12:10

What about Beatrice Alicia?

(I prefer Beatrix or the Spanish spelling as suggested above to Beatrice though)

I'd pronounce Alicia as everyone else on the thread does.

Luredbyapomegranate · 19/12/2021 13:10

Same

Ah-LISS-ee-uh is the traditional UK pronunciation, Al-LEE-sha is US

SummaLuvin · 19/12/2021 13:10

We clearly don't share taste in names, so I won't give my opinion on your choices, seems pointless negativity when we are far apart in preferences.

Pronunciation for me is Ah-lee-sha, this is how the only girl I have met with the name pronounced it, so instinct for me is that one. But I have heard of others using Ah-liss-ee-ah, so wouldn't be surprised to be corrected or hear either in use.

DramaAlpaca · 19/12/2021 15:22

Ah-LISS-ee-ah is my default pronunciation. It's a pretty name that works in Spanish too 'ah-LEE-thee-ah'. I don't like the 'ah-LEE-sha' pronunciation much.

I love the ABCD initials.

17caterpillars1mouse · 19/12/2021 15:45

Beautiful

I know no little Alicia's but a few in their 30s, some go by Alissia and some by Aleesha pronunciation so I would expect either.

I personally much prefer the Alissia pronunciation though

urbanbuddha · 19/12/2021 16:05

A-liss-ee-a.
I prefer Beatrice (or Beatrix) Alicia. Alicia Beatrice souns a bit fussy.

DukkaTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 19/12/2021 17:46

A-liss-eee-ah, which I love.

KirstenBlest · 19/12/2021 18:12

I'd pronounce Alicia to rhyme with Patricia/Trisha

Alicia Bearice doesn't flow IMO

RedCandyApple · 19/12/2021 18:16

Ah lee sha I would say. I like the ABCD though

WeasilyPleased · 19/12/2021 23:00

Aliseeya is how I'd say it. Beautiful name and Beatrice sounds gorgeous with it imho.

CucumberCool · 20/12/2021 05:55

Thanks all!!

Annoyingly my partner's vetoed it as 'he doesn't know how to pronounce it'. I want 'aliseeys' he says 'aleesha'!

Tricky - as I Iike longer, traditional, 'grown up' names, (which have option for shorter NN) he wants short, one syllable names... Hmm

Abigail Beatrix CD

What will you do for any subsequent children though? Same cool initials?

Kanaloa · 21/12/2021 03:09

I think it’s pretty and would say a liss ee ah.

To be honest I think people put too much stock in middle names/full initials. Her initials will be A.D/A.C.D and generally nobody will call her Alicia Beatrice. She’ll just be Alicia. Both pretty names though!

Onlinedilema · 21/12/2021 06:09

I've heard both pronunciations and prefer Aliss ee ah.
Lovely name.

Jossbow · 21/12/2021 08:07

Felicity would Work in Spanish
Nina Beatrice?
Melissa? ( He can all her Lissa/lissy if he wants!)

VanillaAndOrange · 25/12/2021 17:30

I like both names individually, but together it sounds a bit too "iss-y" for me! The initials aren't a problem.
