Why not Clemmy?

What about Clem?

SnowdropFox · 16/12/2021 18:46

I had an Auntie Teenie but that only works if you pronounce the name one way over the other. What way were you intending op?

Valaris · 16/12/2021 18:47

She will be Chlem. Then that will changed to Phlegm.

Kids are cruel.

PinkWaferBiscuit · 16/12/2021 18:52

She's very likely to get Clemmy as it doesn't really shorten to anything else. The only alternative would be an organic nickname such as Peanut or Jelly Bean etc that had nothing to do with her name.

If you don't want her to be called Clemmy I wouldn't use the name Clementine.

Not sure they're better than Clemmie though...

LesLavandes · 16/12/2021 19:13

Clemmie

RandomCatGenerator · 16/12/2021 19:15

It’s SUCH a gorgeous name but we decided against it for a girl precisely because of Clemmie which sounds like Clammy and feels like the obvious unavoidable nickname.

Or Tina which I also really don’t like - feels a bit 70s to me.

BadgeronaMoped · 16/12/2021 19:22

Clemmie is definitely the default, however Clementine does lend itself to more creative nicknames such as: The Clemminator, Clembo, Tiny, Emmental, Clemsie, Clemmett, Clembatron.

Probs the nicest of those is Clemsie, although I am partial to The Clembatron (my DC get sick of me and my "creative" nicknames). Not meant in a mean way Flowers it's a pretty name by itself.

I really don't like the sound of it. I also knew a horrible Clemmy (who never went by Clementine).

Clem or Tina.

I quite like Tiny but I'm not sure if that's a good idea

Satsuma Xmas Grin

JaneJeffer · 16/12/2021 19:35

Minty

toastofthetown · 16/12/2021 19:39

Clemmy is the very obvious one. Even if you introduce something else (and everything suggested here is a pretty big stretch) she might want to go by Clem/Clemmy later and you will have no say over it.

KirstenBlest · 16/12/2021 19:40

pompomsgalore · 16/12/2021 21:10

I think nicknames are given or are naturally created. People go for the obvious so maybe this isn't the name for you.

tweetypi · 16/12/2021 21:20

@BadgeronaMoped we have a Clementine who is also a Clematron Grin
She is 3 and is pretty adamant that her name is Clementine though so not sure anyone else's nickname would stick. At home we also use Clem and Clem-Clem. Never Clemmie!

Flutterflybutterby · 16/12/2021 22:12

I know a Clementine, nn Minnie

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 16/12/2021 22:14

If you really hate Clemmie then don’t use Clementine. Sorry.

@Valaris

Don’t be ridiculous. You could find something like this to say about any name.

I think she will end up Clem/ie, OP, so if you don’t like it then I’d find something else
