Frances or Cassia?

We’ve finally whittled down our shortlist to two (though open to more!):

Frances Lyra (Frankie)

Or

Cassia Frances (Cassie) - in the UK Cassia is pronounced Cassy-ah

I really can’t decide. I sometimes think that both Frankie and Cassie are a little harsh sounding. I still have some residual name regret over DC1 and so I’m super cautious this time. We will probably wait to see what she looks like before deciding for sure, but I feel anxious still being this undecided.

Would love to get a general consensus about these names from you impartial lot!

Thank you xx

I like Cassia and Frances but I don’t think they go together. I don’t like Frankie though, I’d only go with Frances to plan to call her Frances or Fran.

Both are great, but I prefer Cassia Frances.

Cassia Frances is so elegant.

Cassia. Boris Johnson's daughter Cassia is not speaking to him, so it seems unfair to taint the name with association to him. Also she's lovely.

Frances is a good, solid name, but if I'd meet a Cassia my first thought would be what an incredibly beautiful name :) eventually one of my favourite girl's name I read on Mumsnet.

Ooo, I love both options.
So, Cassia Frances Lyra..... I love Lyra so I'd have 2 middle names.

I love both Frances and Cassia but can't see why you would shorten them - they are both lovely on their own. I don't like Frankie at all.
Of the two, I prefer Frances which is very classic and elegant. Cassia Frances is a lovely combination.

I know a lovely Cassia. She loves her name (and loves how it is a type of Cinnamon) she hates it being shortened to Cassie though! I think Cassia Frances flows really nicely

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/12/2021 23:52

Like them both, Cassia Frances just edges it

Frarnces · 14/12/2021 07:47

My Frances goes by Francie (as well as Frances) which would hit both sounds. I’m not too keen on Frankie.

Obviously I think you should choose Frances Grin.

SoapySnowflake · 14/12/2021 09:03

Cassia. I’ve always found Frances a bit stuffy (sorry, just personal taste). I prefer Francesca.

WildCherryBlossom · 14/12/2021 09:44

I like Cassia Frances best. Cassia and Cassie are both very pretty (I really like Cassandra too). Frankie does sound rather harsh to my ear I'm afraid. Cassia on the other hand is soft like a whisper with a cinnamon fragrance (particularly lovely for a Christmas baby!)
