Hi,
We think we may have settled on one of these three names but now we are stuck.
George - I like as it's nice and traditional , partner doesn't like as he says it used to often and is a bit bland compared to the other two.
Georgie- We both like but I'm unsure as to whether I can picture if this will this suit an adult?
Georgio- We both like (partner is quarter Italian so could work with our surname) , could nickname Georgie as a child and grow into Georgio?

Any opinions or advice - we are going round in circles haha.

Also forgot to add, friends (not too close) have a little girl who is Jorgie ... there will be times they are together is that a reason to avoid?

I'm not sure an Italian grandparent is a strong enough connection to the name.

Just go for George. It's a lovely name.

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 07/12/2021 14:26

Giorgio

George is ugly and Georgie is a girls name❤️

Geamhradh · 07/12/2021 14:29

Agree with above.
I think the name George is awful.
Georgie I associate with girls
Giorgio is the correct Italian spelling.

I agree with the spelling I just feel like we are trying to hard to be something we aren't with the Italian spelling haha. I genuinely just like the name and how it flows with the surname, maybe it's time for some reconsideration ?

If you like the 'o' sound at the end of the name why not go for Theo or Leo?

MadeOfStarStuff · 07/12/2021 14:51

Definitely George

You can call him Georgie when he’s small if you want to

If you’re going to use an Italian version then at least spell it right, Giorgio looks much nicer than Georgio anyway. Georgio just looks like you’re trying too hard to be unique

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 07/12/2021 14:53

I would go with George and can cal
Him the other names, most people call my George Georgie,

toastofthetown · 07/12/2021 16:39

If be surprised to meet a child called Giorgio with no Italian background but I don’t think it’s a no go. If you don’t want to use the Giorgio spelling, then I’d stick with George. You can always call him Georgie or Giorgio as a nickname.

rifling · 07/12/2021 16:42

If you go with Giorgio, please use the Italian spelling and pronunciation. It's not just Georg-e-oh and it doesn't sound great with an English accent but that's probably how most people will pronounce it.

Luredbyapomegranate · 07/12/2021 23:49

Either George or Georgio - since you have some Italian ancestry.

But not Georgie as a full name - no it would not be suitable for an adult..

Luredbyapomegranate · 07/12/2021 23:49

Oh yeah - spelt Giorgio, obvs..

Kanaloa · 07/12/2021 23:50

I think George is nice. And then you can call him Georgie if you want to.

HipposHaveNipples · 07/12/2021 23:51

Georgie as a girl's name is suitable for an adult, but not for a boy I don't think! Out of those I would go with George, and you can always use Georgie as a nickname.

Elisemum · 09/12/2021 14:03

George is a nice name and you can certainly call him Georgie when he is little.
Georgie on its own - NO. It’s a girls name and like you said you can’t have a CEO named Georgie. It’s just wrong.
Giorgio- yes, very nice but only if you have Italian surname. Giorgio Smyth for example sounds ridiculous. And like others said- it would need to be Italian spelling. Otherwise it’s a bit silly if you ask me:)

Itsanewdah · 09/12/2021 14:07

i have a colleague named Georgie. She - even as a mid 40s adult - really suffers from her name and avoids it wherever she can and uses a nickname instead. Don’t do it, its just plain mean.

Why does she suffer by having the name Georgie? Confused
Aquamarine1029 · 09/12/2021 14:59

Georgie for an adult man is awful.

Itsanewdah · 09/12/2021 18:41

@HipposHaveNipples many reasons. because most non native english speakers think she’s a guy named Georgie. because cutesy names don’t sound good for a grown woman either (Georgie isn’t a nickname, its her actual name).
