Is it cringey to use another modern virtue name for my child when I am part of a sibset with two virtue names?

I wanted a name almost after me but not directly by using my name, so thought the link was lovely but wondering if people would cringe.

Honor/Honour is the name I'm considering.

I ADORE Honor.

Are you and your sister called Hope and Faith by any chance? I know a few Hopes with Faiths as sisters. I think they're all lovely names and it's a nice connection to you

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 01/12/2021 13:29

It's cute go for it

Camii · 01/12/2021 14:22

Honor is such a lovely name.
And a nice connection to you and your sibling too

Marcipex · 01/12/2021 14:27

I like it.

Peaboddy · 01/12/2021 14:40

Honor is fab. I don’t think it matters what you’re called as long as it’s not too close in sound to Honor. Same with your sister’s name, plus not many people she meets will know all three.

TuftyMarmoset · 01/12/2021 14:54

I think Honour is lovely. I’d go for the British spelling.

Is your/your sister’s name Prudence? I love it and it’s so underused.

Edenember · 01/12/2021 16:33

Honor / Honour is an underused beauty - it’s on my list. Also like Honora. Go for it.

FayCarew · 01/12/2021 17:58

Use the Honor spelling and check that is doesn't sound silly with the surname (not Honor Wall/Hill/Moore etc)

Totalwasteofpaper · 01/12/2021 18:00

I think it's a great name - go for it

MrsTimRiggins · 01/12/2021 18:02

Honor is a really lovely name, you should use it i you love it! One of the very coolest women I know is called Honor.

SavoyCabbage · 01/12/2021 18:13

I definitely wouldn't cringe. I think it's a lovely thing to do.

daisypond · 01/12/2021 19:23

Honor is lovely. Definitely spell it that way.

DramaAlpaca · 01/12/2021 20:09

Honor is really lovely. It should be spelled that way, honour isn't a name.

Lawyerd · 01/12/2021 20:56

Thanks all. Would you all know to spell the name as Honor? Would that be your automatic spelling? And do you think people would say "on her" in future?

Only met one Honor, she'll be 18 now. Lovely girl and lovely name.

I'd do it Smile

Sexnotgender · 01/12/2021 21:03

Love the name Honor.

I have a Joy.

Lawyerd · 01/12/2021 21:04

@Sexnotgender I absolutely love Joy too!

I love the name Honor - it’s been a bit fashionable for a while and I think will pick up speed.

It’s correctly (and almost always) spelt Honor when it’s a name, and it would be a pain for her to spell it any other way. I assume it was the old English spelling (as many US spellings and words are.)

Sexnotgender · 01/12/2021 21:05

Thank you. It suits her down to the ground. We’ve had so many positive comments on it.

Pickles89 · 01/12/2021 21:06

Haha, 'Honor Pike' really wouldn't be good!!

OP I love the name too. Very pretty.

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 01/12/2021 21:08

It’s a lovely name.

And a nice link if you and your sibling have virtue names too, without being cringy.

Verity is another one, if you’re still at the shortlisting stage.

Lawyerd · 01/12/2021 21:11

Thanks so much, I also like Constance. I wanted a link that was personal but not really obvious (I guess it is a little but still special). Honor I think is my favourite because it is a bit more unusual

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 01/12/2021 21:12

Constance is lovely but only if you like Connie.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 01/12/2021 21:18

It's fine imo. For a start, some people won't even know what your sister is called, but even so I don't see that it's a big deal - some families stick with Biblical names for example, others Classical (Ancient Roman/ Greek) ones. Just be aware that if you start a "theme", if you have a 2nd DD and there isn't another virtue name you like, depending on 2nd DD's personality she might be annoyed! (there are fell commonly used virtue boys names so it's less likely to matter for a DS).

Oh and I'd definitely use the Honor spelling, seems the most well known.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 01/12/2021 21:19

few not fell!, sorry
