Delilah is a bit on the frilly side for me but it's my favourite of the bunch.

Cora is harsh, Hallie is insubstantial, and Harper has to be one of the ugliest names around.

Allsorts1 · 20/11/2021 00:13

Cora

BungleandGeorge · 20/11/2021 00:18

Cora. Hallie is ok. Not keen on the other two

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 20/11/2021 00:25

Cora or Delilah.

frenchfancy81 · 20/11/2021 00:27

None are at all my cup of tea but Hallie would win if I had to choose.

joysmoy66 · 20/11/2021 00:46

I like Delilah, Cora and Hallie. Not keen on Harper

DebbieHarrysCheekbones · 20/11/2021 01:04

What an odd mix.

If I had to pick one Delilah.
Harper is just grim

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 20/11/2021 01:25

Delilah

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/11/2021 02:16

Definitely Cora of the four. While it is rapidly gaining in popularity (likely on the back of other fashionable short retro/vintage names like Ada, Ivy, Nancy, Edie, Mabel etc), it is not yet anywhere near as trendy as your other choices so might not date as much. It also has an elegant classical and literary heritage (from Greek Mythology's Kore (Persephone) and the classic Fenimore Cooper novel).

My feelings as well.

Amdone123 · 20/11/2021 03:09

Delilah is lovely.
Harper awful. Cora harsh sounding and Haillie (sp?) will just get Hayley?

alexdgr8 · 20/11/2021 03:10

don't like any of them.
not proper names.

LoveFall · 20/11/2021 03:21

Genuinely? None. Cora reminds me of the character on Eastenders, I don't personally like Delilah or Harper, and Hallie sounds "made up" to me even if it isn't and I'm not keen on it anyway.

And isn't Hallie one of the names Sue Radford has recently chosen - not that that is a bad thing but it's an unusual-ish name and people might think of that straight away. Delilah's story in the Bible is relevant here (betrayed Samson). And the song Deliliah (some people consider that song a bit dodgy). Then there's Harper Beckham, so another high-profile "celeb name" perhaps? Think about whether any of these connections or connotations would bother you, or cause undue bother to your child.

None of them are really truly awful names (to me) though. If pushed, Harper is the best of the 4 I'd say.

However, it's very dependent on your surname, some of these names might sound great with your surname and thus make a nice sounding name overall. And the opposite.

IMO, be very careful with unfortunate initials and how the name sounds, with and without the middle name(s). Also it's best not to have sounds at the end of one name that run into the next. These things are more important than which of these all-okay names you choose.

(Nothing against "made up" names either, by the way, if that's what you are after, and not sure if Hallie actually is one. But if I'm thinking it, others also might.)

Apols for repetition, didn't RTFT.

Onlinedilema · 20/11/2021 05:45

Is chose the one which matches your surname best. So if your surname starts with a H then avoid Harper or Hallie. I don't think any of them are common at all.,
I do agree that Hallie sounds like a nickname so I wouldn't choose that. I think I'd go for Harper.

sybillalle · 20/11/2021 06:07

Cora

Elspethelf · 20/11/2021 06:11

LozMarieFielder · 20/11/2021 07:00

Cora, followed by Delilah, Harper and then Hallie

seriousandloyal · 20/11/2021 07:05

Cora

CeeceeBloomingdale · 20/11/2021 07:07

Cora if I had to choose. I strongly dislike the others

Treaclepiepastry · 20/11/2021 07:08

Cora. But I don’t love it.

RedRobin100 · 20/11/2021 07:38

Cora, or Harper - but don’t think I’d use Harper

GoodnightGrandma · 20/11/2021 07:39

Halle.
