My DH and I have very different naming taste, I like names like Clementine he likes names like Jennifer (as an example).
We’ve got a small crossover of names we both quite like and looking for peoples thoughts or some suggestions that seem similar. (DH is welsh but we live in Yorkshire)

Ffion
Stephanie
Imogen

Of your list, I like Imogen best.

Other similar names:
Jemima
Emma or Emily
Elizabeth
Olivia or Olive

FindingMeno · 15/11/2021 09:02

The one I'm not so struck by is Stephanie but both of the others are lovely

bloominglovelyorange · 15/11/2021 09:08

Imogen is lovely

Amdone123 · 15/11/2021 09:10

I love Imogen. Names similar to this - Verity, Felicity.
Ffion is ok. Just reminds me of Fiona. Nothing wrong with Fiona but I went to school with about 20!
Stephanie is quite dated to me, but I think it could get popular again. Like Claire or Helen.
Clara? Martha?

LozMarieFielder · 15/11/2021 10:10

Ffion isn’t bad, not my cup of tea but I see why people like it.

Stephanie is a good mix of names that you like and your husband likes. I really like it.

I think the nn Immy for Imogen is really cute, but I have a love hate relationship with the full name. Even so, it’s not too common (I’ve only known two).

I like Stephanie - but not sure about Steph which is what she will be called!
Imogen seems a bit over popular for me
Ffion - I quite like this - weird spelling though. Is it always spelt this way? Could Fyon of Fyonne be used?
I really like Clementine though!

Shadedog · 15/11/2021 10:19

I think they are all “ok”. Imogen is very popular where I live, but mostly older girls so maybe rarer in recent years. Stephanie always ends up as Steph which is ok but I don’t love it. Ffion isn’t bad, not my cup of tea but I see why people like it sums up my exact feelings.

Do you like Anneka? Feels somehow similar to Jenifer and Stephanie but a bit underused.

sageandbasil · 15/11/2021 10:21

I love Imogen. I really like Ffion too. Not a fan of Stephanie

sageandbasil · 15/11/2021 10:23

@mrsrobin that's how Ffion's spelt its Welsh. FWIW op, I'm Welsh and live In England, I work with a Ffion and no one has trouble pronouncing it or spelling it

Ducksurprise · 15/11/2021 10:23

Tamsin?

Like imogen and want to like Stephanie but my accent makes it sound like Ste Fanny

Ahh, yes - thanks for enlightening me! I like the name - just that I had never come across it!

LozMarieFielder · 15/11/2021 10:28

Sorry I accidentally cut off my own post lol. My other suggestions were:
Astrid
Georgina
Harriet
Angharad
Carys
Nicolette
Vivian/Vivienne

WearingPurpleAlready · 15/11/2021 10:32

Imagen is nice!

How about...

Fern
Harriet
Francesca
Josephine
Alexandra
Florence
Rachel
Esther?

WearingPurpleAlready · 15/11/2021 10:33

Imogen ffs*

Autocorrect Hmm

Autumnpenguin · 15/11/2021 10:41

@sageandbasil that’s good to know. We’ve been worried about picking a name no one can pronounce!!

Autumnpenguin · 15/11/2021 10:48

@LozMarieFielder I really like Angharad Smile

OP posts:
cheapskatemum · 15/11/2021 10:56

How about
Glenys
Glynis
Gwendoline?

Since you have a Welsh connection. 2 of our DSs have Welsh names & we would have used Gwendoline if we'd had a girl.

Palavah · 15/11/2021 10:59

It's not a 'weird spelling'. It's Welsh. Educate yourself.
AdaColeman · 15/11/2021 11:05

Imogen is lovely, and by far my favourite from your list.

Other names similar to your list...
Hilary
Marina
Frances
Marianne
Lucy
Lucinda

(I don't think Angharad is particularly easy to pronounce)

Autumnpenguin · 15/11/2021 12:01

@AdaColeman that was our fear with Angharad as well

OP posts:
user1493494961 · 15/11/2021 15:12

I would choose Imogen.

Irishfarmer · 15/11/2021 16:29

@Autumnpenguin I have no clue how to go about pronouncing Angharah (ange-hard-a)?
I like Stephanie though and see nothing wrong with the nn Steph. I don't have any Welsh suggestions, although if you had of asked me a few months ago after watching hinerland I might have, loads of lovely Welsh names on that show.

toastofthetown · 15/11/2021 16:42

I really like Ffion. I feel like it's well known enough in England that pronunciation won't be an issue (spelling might though). Stephanie feels very 80s to me, and Imogen is very popular and quite dull. I don't like Angharad, I think spelling and pronunciation would be an issue in England and the name just sounds harsh and a bit clunky. You seem to like non-frilly names, without a endings, so here are some others that fit that.

Adelaide
Ariadne
Bryony
Cecily
Eira
Elise
Fern
Frances
Ingrid
Jessamine
Juliet
Petra
Winter

Rrrob · 15/11/2021 16:42

Love Imogen!

16HamstersCalledThemAllDave · 15/11/2021 19:26

Love Ffion and Imogen. I think Stephanie is quite dated and would become Steph which I don't like at all.

Love love love Angharad. Is it difficult to pronounce? Surely you just say it as you see it - Ang Ha Rad. (Disclaimer - I am Welsh).

Also think Manon is a beautiful Welsh name. Easy to pronounce too!
