Hallie or Indie for a baby girl name

Me and my hubby are trying to decide between these two girl names.
Which do you prefer? :-)
Hallie pronounced "Hah-lee" (hoping people won't read it as Hayley?)
Or Indie? I'm just not sure on the spelling of this one with seeing the word "die" in it haha. Any thoughts?

I love Indie! Wouldn't worry about the die ending at all. Sadie, Eddie, Maddie and many other names have the same ending.

Mine was Halima, nn Hali. It’s a lovely name

There's an Indie on Bluey (kids' TV show). I quite like the name, but I do tend to wonder what it's short for (I've decided I think it's Indigo).

Hallie is recognisable and I don't think people would say Hayley. Hallie's comet is fairly well-known.

Don’t like either. Indie is a type of music, Hallie looks made up and she would forever have to be spelling it. Plus it should be pronounced H-Alley, your pronunciation is the name Harley really (also bad, it’s a motorbike)

It’s Halley’s Comet 🤦‍♀️ And that was his surname.

I have an Indie, the 'die' reference has never entered my head, probably because it's not pronounced like that. Had nothing but positive reactions to her name, and it very much feels like a proper name, not a shortening- noone has asked if it's short for anything.

That's a cartoon dog!

sageandbasil · 09/11/2021 09:21

Love them both but indie has the edge for me

RestingStitchFace · 09/11/2021 15:00

I don't like either tbh. They sound too nick-namey for my ears.

Doesn't matter- my point is, people will still be able to pronounce it.

I prefer Indie. Hallie makes me think of halitosis. Halle doesn't though, so I do like Halle, but not Hallie

emma342 · 11/11/2021 01:55

Hallie, but I also like Indie

LozMarieFielder · 12/11/2021 19:01

Hallie isn’t bad but Indie is absolutely gorgeous.

giraffesateleaves · 12/11/2021 19:43

I dislike Indie, to me it sounds like boys name. Wasn't Indiana Jones nicknamed Indie in the film. I know 2, so more common both are under 2.

Halle is nice, but not seen it with ie ending.

@BeKindBeYou

I really like Indie - a beautiful name!
Is it ? How ? Genuinely how is it beautiful? I imagine something long flowing and floral as beautiful. My kids have short names btw.
BeKindBeYou · 13/11/2021 07:45

I guess that’s the beauty of life - it’s all subjective and everyone has different opinions. To me, Indie is such a beautiful name! But, I’m also mature enough to understand that some may not think that. I’d like to think most of us are open enough to understand that if one holds that opinion, it does not mean we all have too. #bekind

RussianSpy101 · 13/11/2021 07:46

Hallie is very popular at the moment so I’m sure it won’t be mis pronounced.
I don’t really have a preference but they’re both ok.

giraffesateleaves · 13/11/2021 12:24

@BeKindBeYou ok then I'll be kind. I love both names 🙄 no point in these threads if we have to like everything. And obviously two of my friends love the name Indie too, as they have named their girls this. My DS has a Halle in his class.
