Cannot decide, any inspiration?

Were stuck on girl names basically.
We have a short list, which Ill be honest and say isnt very short!
We like names like Ava, Jessica, Isla and Sophie but cannot decide.
Middle name is possibly going to be Grace although this isnt confirmed as yet.
Popularity doesnt bother us as long as it is a name we like and think suits baby when she is here.

Are there any names out of these that people prefer or any others that people would suggest that we may have overlooked?
We think (hope) that once we see her we will just know but are trying to keep options open.

I feel like Isla has been done to death so I would personally avoid that one.

I really like Jessica NN Jess. It's a classic and there dont seem to be that many about ATM

I also really like Ava and although I know quite a few 6+ Ava's I don't know any little Ava's but I know loads of Ada's so maybe that's why, maybe it's been overtaken by Ada.

Sophie is a nice enough classic, though I personally prefer Sophia

Hannah would fit with your options I think

Mumsnet will slate me for this as boring and overused but I have a very beautiful Isabel Grace 💖💖💖💕💕💕

Glitterheart · 08/11/2021 18:18

Similar to the previous poster I have an Isla Grace. According to mumset this is a boring an overused name but I think it is beautiful!
I also have a Clara Alice
Good luck naming your little one - I’m sure you will find the perfect name for her!

Thank you everyone for your opinions and suggestions.
Definitely some there to discuss with DH when we get a chance.
It feels like so much pressure naming a person doesn't it!

@Flutterby8, it really is ! I only had a girl's name Isabel Claire. We could not agree on a boy's name for love nor money. When he was born, my dh suggested Thomas. All good until his sister called him Tommy ! Then we had Callum but the girl opposite me had Callum and she kept saying Cally. Back to the drawing board. In those days you were in hospital for 5 days and what with the sleepless nights, the stress , the pnd arriving, I eventually said, ' Call him what you want ! I'm going to sleep!'
I love his name BTW Grin

I don’t agree that you just know when you meet your baby. Both mine looked very different as newborns to the distinctive looks they developed later. Both of their names, names I love, seemed totally bizarre on them at first which I think is understandable because how can a tiny baby seem like a Patrick or George or Arthur? Some people do seem to just “know” but I remember thinking my DD looked so far from her name and trying to think of alternatives and the only names I could think of that suited this little, pudgy newborn were kind of ridiculous!

I find Grace overused as a middle but really, really lovely as a first name, just so simple and yet beautiful. It gets overlooked as a middle and just fills the space when it’s a beautiful name.

I would love to use Grace as a first name but it was the name of one of our grandparents. I can see that if I used it as a first name, someone somewhere in the family would then complain that we haven't used X grandparents name instead. Hence we were going to stick with it being used as a middle name instead. I am quite sad about this but I don't want to have to deal with the grumbles from the family.
Lots of the other names I really like but have been used by friends or family on their children in recent years making it harder to use them.
I really like Isabelle but several people we are close to have used it. And Hannah.
I know it will fall into place and whatever we choose will be (hopefully) the right decision!

Of your choices I like Ava and Isla the best. I don't like Isla Grace very much as in my accent it sounds like isle of grace
