Jasper?

Hello! So I've found out I'm having a baby boy and we are really stuck on names

We initially liked Rupert but have since gone off it and I don't think it goes with our surname. However have come across the name Jasper and I love it?

I've heard mixed things though, some people saying it is a joke name and others saying it is too posh. My first son is Arthur and I think the names go well together, but honestly what are your thoughts on the name Jasper?

I love Jasper. I don't get the Bristol uni thing and I work in a uni hospital

My 4th was going to be Jasper but he just didn't look like one so we ended up with something different. But I think it's a great name.

Definitely becoming a very popular name at the moment I’ve heard it quite a bit lately - 2 at the nursery my child is attending and a friend recently named her new baby Jasper

I absolutely love the name Jasper, it's fabulous.

I do think of Jasper carrot but that's not a bad thing, I still love the name.

I find it posh I’m afraid, same with Rupert. Like if you imagine a grown up introducing themselves, I can only imagine it from a posh person. That said I know a little Jasper who is very cute and I’m sure folk grow into names, or names evolve. Love Arthur though. What do you think of Stanley? One of my faves.

I really like the name Jasper, and then kept looking around for boy names and found I really like the name Emmett.

But unfortunately, bloody Twilight has ruined them for me 😂

It does suit with the name of your other boy though! Go for it if you love it 😊

Jasper and Rupert are both cute. Not as posh as they once were. I do think they are a touch dog namey though. But probably because people like the names, but aren’t brave enough to use them on a child so use them in a dog instead!

I really like Jasper. I've seen all sorts about it on here, including that it's posh, or a dog's name (to be fair there was a time when pretty much every name mentioned on this board was declared a dog's name Grin). If you like it, go for it. It's a name that suits both a boy and a man, and is formal enough without being too formal.

Jasper is a local word for a wasp in the south west (I assumed that's where the Bristol Uni comment stems from, as Bristol is in the south west, but I could be wrong). I wouldn't let something like that put you off.... One of my favourite names allegedly means something rude in another part of the UK. (It's also been called a dog's name, and "wet". I still plan to use it if I ever get the chance.)
