I have posted once before, but we are now just days away from our little one arriving & we have our ‘short list’ which we are hoping to get shorter & shorter for when the big day arrives. Any thoughts or opinions would be welcome!

Lottie, Tilly, Elsie, Ava, Daisy, Indie, Mae

Daisy is the best, all a bit twee but Daisy has a bit more spark to it.

All a bit cutesy for me I'm afraid. I do like Ava, although it's popular if that concerns you. Mae is sweet, though I much prefer it spelt May. Have you considered-

Ada
Maeve
Eloise
Iris
Scarlett
Nina

Lottie, Yes, but prefer Lotte / Lotta
Tilly, Yes, but short for Matilda
Elsie, Yes
Ava, No overused a few years ago
Daisy, No, ditto. Nice name though.
Indie, No, definitely not
Mae No definitely not

Daisy!

anderosonnmj · 20/07/2022 00:53

Ava or Mae are nice. They remind me of strong women (Ava Gardner and Mae West).

Elsie and Daisy sound like the names of cows.

Daisy.

allboysherebutme · 20/07/2022 01:48

I'm not help I love them all 🤣

KosherDill · 20/07/2022 02:42

Those all are nicknames.

Please think beyond toddlerhood when selecting a name.

I would go for Mae (but spelled May, otherwise it'll be a complete pain and she'll spend her life spelling it out). It's a very nice, simple name and there aren't a million around.

Lottie, Tillie etc. are not the most dignified names for a woman who's trying to sound sophisticated, and half her class will be called an Ava variation or something beginning with "El."

mathanxiety · 20/07/2022 03:57

I agree with you wrt May, user1477391263

Also your comments on the nicknamey names and Ava/El...

Daisy

Honour your daughter with a strong name

These are all very insipid

What nicknames do u use for Indie please?

Indie is a nickname for Indiana or India.

LisaSimpson77 · 20/07/2022 08:10

Lottie name her Charlotte to give options later in life.
Tilly name her a longer name (Matilda???) I'm always uneasy about nicknames as full names because babies grow up and want longer, grown up names.
Elsie just not keen on this
Ava ok but over used and bland
Daisy love this
Indie and Mae not keen on these at all, sorry.

Confused doh just realised I posted on a zombie thread!!! 🤦‍♀️

17caterpillars1mouse · 20/07/2022 14:22

They are all too cutsy for me other than Ava so I would choose that. I like May but only spelt this way, Mae / Mai is too cutsy

AliBaliBears · 20/07/2022 16:25

Elsie, Ava, Daisy and May (spelt that way) are the ones I like best from your list.

Lottie, Tilly, and Indie are too cutesy, nick-namey for me, but I prefer stronger names personally.
