I like the names but does it make you think of the phonetic alphabet c for charlie, Oscar bravo etc.. don't want jokes of will we name the next one romeo! Am I over thinking it or does it make you think of this?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DebbieHarrysCheekbones · 03/10/2021 08:47

Yes it does
Before I read your full post that was my first thought I’m afraid

TheWayTheLightFalls · 03/10/2021 08:48

Yes it does Sad

Onlinedilema · 03/10/2021 08:49

No it doesn't for me. I do think the names have very different vibes though.

chillied · 03/10/2021 08:49

but
So what!

Great names

ChristmasTree999 · 03/10/2021 08:49

Yes it was my first thought too - sorry!

BammBamm · 03/10/2021 08:50

Mine too OP, sorry

Dahliadelight · 03/10/2021 08:52

It does actually, but I don’t think it matters.

HBGKC · 03/10/2021 08:52

Foxtrot Romeo... yup, sorry 😖

becca3210 · 03/10/2021 08:59

I didn't make the connection I just thought two nice (though very popular) names

BadgeronaMoped · 03/10/2021 09:04

Fairly classic names! I think there's definitely always going to be people who'll make the phonic alphabet connection, however, most people I know can't remember the phonic alphabet and will say "B for Bingo", "C for cheese" and so on Grin so I doubt it'll be that much of a thing in real life.

dementedma · 03/10/2021 09:06

Yes it does

Lockdownbear · 03/10/2021 09:09

Didn't make me think of it. But I do think the names have different vibes too.
If Charlie is the one your trying to name you could give him the more formal Charles.

HunkyPunk · 03/10/2021 09:11

Charlie or Oscar on their own wouldn’t make me think ‘phonetic alphabet’, but if a family had both, I might fleetingly wonder whether, if the next one was a girl, they might call her India!

Blubells · 03/10/2021 09:21

Alpha Bravo Charlie Oscar etc

I'd avoid the names together

Beamur · 03/10/2021 09:23

Ha ha. Yes, I'm afraid I thought that too.
I think people would maybe make a joke but get over it. Use the names if you like them.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/10/2021 09:23

Didn’t cross my mind.

mum2jakie · 03/10/2021 09:25

Yes phonetic alphabet for me too!

MCMelon · 03/10/2021 09:27

I wouldn't have even twigged if you hadn't mentioned it. Two really lovely names!

mafted · 03/10/2021 09:30

It did make me think that but unless your surname is also in the phonetic alphabet, you go on to have a Juliet or you are fans of shouting Bravo when they do something notable I don't think it matters.

Disfordarkchocolate · 03/10/2021 09:32

Straight away I though Foxtrot and started humming the theme tune of from The Bill. I do like the names though.

Oliveandsage · 03/10/2021 09:34

It does remind me of the phonetic alphabet but not in a bad way - more so if they were used together as a first and middle name but not if they were separate names for different children. They both are such lovely names!

thefarmerhasawife · 03/10/2021 09:39

Really! I've got a Charlie and an Oscar and never given this a second thought!

Quartz2208 · 03/10/2021 09:41

I have one who is best friends with the other and it has never been brought up.

He did find it funny though when I used the phonetic alphabet with track and trace and said them both

MilduraS · 03/10/2021 10:19

I wouldn't think of it but then I'm useless with that alphabet. I've caught myself writing the full words "Charlie foxtrot" when someone tries to use it on the phone Blush

TakeYourFinalPosition · 03/10/2021 10:33

No. And I suspect most people wouldn’t make the connection, given how many people come up with random words for C and O on work calls!

But you’ll get biased answers here because you’ve told people the link before you posted Smile
