Casey for a boy?

We like the name Casey for a boy. One of the unisex names I actually like on a boy. I like Casey Emerson, but apparently Emerson is unisex as well, so maybe 2 unisex names is too much. Casey Reid maybe? What are some middle names that sound good to you?

I know an adult Casey and every time I speak to him I think how much I like the name. He’s about 50 but I think it would suit someone whatever their age.
I really really like it. I don’t think of it as unisex though.

Casey is a surname in Ireland.

Why are two unisex names too much? I think it's fine.

romdowa · 03/10/2021 02:12

I know two caseys, both are girls. Depends which sex it is most popular for in your area really.

LetHimHaveIt · 03/10/2021 02:24

I'm not a huge fan either way but I think it's marginally better for a boy; 'Casey/Lacey/Stacey' are all a bit 'orange ten-year-old bullies with patent shoes, frilly socks, and a JoJo bow'. Whereas I quite fancied the Casey Jones character in the 'Ninja Turtles'.

I like the Casey Reid combination. It’s a great name - I haven’t met a Casey before and I really like it

GiveIrelandBackToTheIrish · 03/10/2021 02:55

Love it

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/10/2021 02:57

I think Casey Emerson sounds nice together.

My major issue with it is that having never met a Casey, I immediately think of "Casey at the Bat"!

Blubells · 03/10/2021 07:59

Casey Emerson sounds great.

Emerson sounds very masculine imo

The4ks · 03/10/2021 08:09

I like it. Only Caseys I know are male, one about 12 and the other mid 20s.
Casey Emerson sounds quite cool to me.

NCkitchen · 03/10/2021 08:13

I like Casey for a kid but not for an adult.

Having middle name Emerson is a good idea as then they can change it to the more grown up Emerson if they want to?

mum2jakie · 03/10/2021 08:16

I've never met a female Casey but have known a male one. He'd be in his thirties now. Cool name!

QueenofBrickdon · 03/10/2021 08:25

I've never met a Casey but I have met 2 Emersons, both boys.

elizabethdraper · 03/10/2021 08:28

Two surnames for first and middles are a weird for me.

I am not a fan of using surnames

PenguinBarnotBird · 03/10/2021 08:41

Casey James - CJ for nickname

gogohm · 03/10/2021 08:54

I would go for a short traditional name do your son has that option when he's older if he doesn't like Casey - the only Casey I've heard of was a train in a kids book!

whatagloriousthingtobe · 03/10/2021 09:05

Always liked Casey for a boy! I think it's more of an American boys name, Casey affleck is the first person I think of.

Zeke2018 · 03/10/2021 10:08

Casey James - CJ for nickname
My other sons middle name is James

Casey always sounds quite feminine to me - like a mix between "Katie" and "Cassie". Having said that I don't dislike the sound it, but I'd personally give him a more classic boys name for a middle so he has a nice mix - John, Jack, Thomas, William, Edward, Samuel, Charles, George etc.

user1493494961 · 03/10/2021 19:55

It's a bit downmarket.

Suspicioussam · 03/10/2021 20:55

I love it. I know a female Kacey but I really like it on a boy as Casey. I do think he will be mistaken for a girl a lot when people first see the name but thats not a huge issue. Even better if he is likely to have long hair and be a bit of a dude.

Agree.
