Another go around. Feminine?

Cassidy for a boy. I like it, and it also allows me to have my nn Cas that I've been stuck on. But unfortunately, people think female because, of course, most the boy names have to turn to unisex names. It was a boy name first. We want to use my dads name for the middle name, Brian.

Is it too feminine now?

It does sound quite feminine. Also, the combination of Cassidy and Brian made me smile. They are just such very different names.

PieonaBarm · 29/09/2021 03:03

Cassian? Could be an alternative

Kanaloa · 29/09/2021 03:06

I prefer Caspar or Cassian. Also recently met a little Casimir, called Cass, which I liked.

I would presume Cassidy was a girl.

GAW19 · 29/09/2021 03:08

I actually really like Cassidy Brian, it's something I never would have even thought to put together Smile

kayport87 · 29/09/2021 03:25

Or Casimir Brian? Last name is Dejesus (day-hay-zoos)

Casper

JayAlfredPrufrock · 29/09/2021 03:44

Caspian.

Paulinefowler · 29/09/2021 03:45

Cassius

OurMamInHavianas · 29/09/2021 03:52

Are you Law & Order fans? Detective Brian Cassidy.

Kanaloa · 29/09/2021 03:53

I would go Casimir. It’s nice.

Grin my first thought!
SpiceWeaselBAM · 29/09/2021 06:02

Caius is another option

staffieslobber · 29/09/2021 06:28

I really like Casimir actually!

But Cassidy is also fine. Yes, it could be a female name but so could Rowan, Robin etc. I don't think it's a big deal Smile

staffieslobber · 29/09/2021 06:42

Also, the nn Cas is unisex anyway..

SeanChailleach · 29/09/2021 07:44

I love Cassidy.
Alternatives maybe:
Cass - this is a name, St Cass of Bangor has a feast day on 26 April, another Cass was an ancestor of the Dál Cáis including the Ó Briens.
Cassán - two saints, one 4 June, one 19 June

toastofthetown · 29/09/2021 08:44

I don’t like Cassidy. Have you considered Cassander?

notsogreatnowboris · 29/09/2021 11:28

To me Cassidy is a surname.

PP gives evidence to support use of Cass as a name in its own right - sounds.
Or Cassius.

notsogreatnowboris · 29/09/2021 11:29

*sounds good

TatianaBis · 29/09/2021 11:35

Cassidy doesn't go well with the surname.

I would do Caspar. Caspar Dejesus works well.

I like Casimir but unless you're Polish it's a bit random, particularly with a Spanish surname.

Balonzette · 29/09/2021 11:48

Cassidy is really naff. If I picture a Cassidy I picture a blonde American playboy bunny type. Are you the poster who was asking about Cassian and has another child namef Ezekiel? Ezekiel and Cassian are PERFECT together - both old, strong, rare, dignified, great nicknames. Cassidy is none of these things. Hate it! (Sorry. I'm just trying to be brutally honest so you don't abandon a gorgeous name for a horrible one.).

Balonzette · 29/09/2021 11:50

Casimir and Cassien are my favourites, also Cassius and Casper are lovely. Cassidy is by far the WORST Cas-starting name (and yes, 100% sounds like a girl's name)

peaceinourtime · 01/10/2021 16:50

I knew a female Cassidy. It's alright for a female first name but is nothing special.

PartyPotato · 01/10/2021 18:18

I like Cassidy for a boy, it’s cool

midsomermurderess · 01/10/2021 18:21

It will always be an Irish pub to me, a pub near the Burren in Clare.

foxgoosefinch · 01/10/2021 18:23

Caspian goes well with the surname!
