2 o ending names

Just that, really. Do you think it would be weird/twee/too current to have 2 boy names that end in an o?

Thanks

As long as they don't rhyme i think it would be fine. Nobody would think twice about two boys names both ending in -n or -ie

TuftyMarmoset · 27/09/2021 19:06

Depends what they are I think - depends if they sound too bouncy together and what your surname starts with. Something like Roberto Julio would be ok but Claudio Julio wouldn’t.

Theo Leo?

ilovemykids5 · 27/09/2021 19:23

If it's like Milo and Arlo then I think it too much.

Neverdidiever · 27/09/2021 19:25

Sorry, I should have said that these are names for brothers. My current d
DS has an unusual o ending name (which is why I'm not saying it - sorry! I know that's irritating!) and the other name I like is even more rarely used. Both 2 syllables but otherwise quite different to each other

Milo/Arlo/Theo/Jago all do feel quite current but I think it depends what the middle consonant sound is as to if it’s too matchy.

I personally love it when siblings names match wether that's the same letter they begin with or the same sounding end.. 💙☁️✨

Theo
Nico
Leo
Enzo
Arlo
Diego
Romeo
Hugo
Kenzo

TuftyMarmoset · 27/09/2021 19:33

Oh for siblings I think it’s fine but the rhyming thing still stands. Ludovico and Ivo fine, Theo and Leo no.

Neverdidiever · 27/09/2021 19:37

They don't share any of the same letters other than the o at the end. The middle sound of one is v and the other is d. Tufty is pretty close, though they are both 2 syllables

Mine both end in ie.

toastofthetown · 27/09/2021 21:00

Ivo and Ludo/Aldo are too close for my tastes for brothers. If the syllables were broken up differently, like Ivo and Orlando that sounds better to me, but two, two-syllable names is samey to me. The O ending is really trendy at the moment; looking at the ONS data shows that its names.darkgreener.com/#.*o$ quadrupled in the last 20 or so years, is if that's what you mean by too current, then you're right to think that.

Saying that, it's not bad. And they'll only be introduced alongside each other for a short amount of their lives. Most people they meet probably won't know or care their brother's name.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 27/09/2021 21:02

Io and Ldo are a bit "samey" for my personal taste sorry - I think it's because they are both 2 syllable combined with the "o" ending (I do really love I*o though!)

Neverdidiever · 27/09/2021 22:54

Argh, thank you! I think you're right, sob.
