Expecting DD2 in Feb.
Had DD1 been a twin, her sister would have been Caitlin, but I may have gone off it a bit. I've 2 issues: first, do people with this name have difficulties with others knowing how to spell and pronounce it properly? I don't want DD2 to have a lifetime of having to spell and correct the pronunciation of her name. Secondly, is it abbreviated to Cait/Kate? I don't want Cait (however spelt) to be used - it's too common and boring.
Love Caitlin, but only as a full name.

I went to school with so many Caitlyn's / Caitlins / Katelyn's. It does seem to be less common in England though.

Caitlin is lovely, as mentioned in the above postings there are lots of different spellings of it from with a K and also Kate Lynn as also previously mentioned. Caitlin from what i've seen when it gets shorted often becomes Kate or Katie so going from the C to the more stranded Kate Katie spellings. So something to be aware of.

@RiotAtTheRodeo that's one of the most common sense things I've ever read on here. We are well capable of butchering names ourselves 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I only like the original Irish version.

If you don’t like Cait then choose something else because you have no control over what your DD and her friends will choose.

Don’t be one of those mums running around saying “it’s Caitlin”

Im English and i would expect it to be spelt Caitlyn or Caitlin and I would pronounce it Kate-lyn. The one I know is a teenager and is often called Katy as a nn.
