Baby name rhymes with my name...

Hi all
I'm due my second baby in 5 weeks and one of the only names we can agree on rhymes with my first name! Is it a silly thing to worry about?
The name is Seth and my name is Beth.

Exactly, I would maybe giggle a bit but I would forget about it 5 seconds later. It’s something that would just make me smile, it’s nothing horrible or embarrassing. So if you like it go for it

I think it's ok but only if can put up with it in the house. My husbands name rhymes with his dads and his dad has recently moved in with us and hes constantly responding to the wrong name and it's doing my nut in! If you can all put up with it then go for it as it's lovely name x

It’s a bit odd when you introduce yourself (which you’ll do a lot when you have a baby/child). If I heard it I would inwardly wonder why you’d gone for rhyming names, but I’m sure I’d get used to it. It doesn’t matter too much what other people think though, Seth is a perfectly acceptable name so if you like it, go for it.

I think it’s a bit odd in the same way as I find names that I associate with pets normally odd. So a friend of mine has a son called Jasper which I associate with a dog I knew. So for about 5 minutes I find it odd before it just becomes that child’s name.

I knew a couple where both the parents had a name that rhymed with one of their DC. Think Gareth and Bethan with DD Mareth and DS Gethin. Not the real names.

The shortened version of DS's name rhymes with the shortened version of DH's name. We didn't consider the shortened version of DS's name until it was already chosen and WAS his name. Like Joe and Bo, for example. We've had one comment, ever. I'm sure others have thought it to themselves but it isn't a big deal, really. I've just realised the shortened version of my name is only one letter off rhyming too (like Ken, Ben and Jem), but only close family call me that so its not too bad.

Lots of men give their sons their exact name, so a rhyming name is totally fine compared with that. And nothing like as bad as calling your child Michael Hunt, Richard Head, or something daft like Python.

Not sure if that’s a joke, but if not:

Michael shortens to Mike.

Child is then called “My cunt”. Teasing ensues.

Honestly never heard that before but then again I don’t know any Mike Hunt’s.

Thinking about it though i did know a Mickey Hunt and now I’m pretty sure I know why he went by Mickey. Poor bugger did get called Mouse all the time though but that’s definitely better than My Cunt.

I really think babies should have a distinct name of their own. Doesn't have to be unusual but it should be theirs. Beth and Seth are just too similar imo.
