How do you feel about the name Sadie, I met a six year old Sadie once & she’s was so cute! Do you guys think it’ll age well? Or is it too juvenile sounding

I like it. Although in my head it always comes with “says” - “Sadie says…” was the chant of one of the character - was it Alison? - in the St Clare’s books, although as far as I remember Sadie’s only crime was being American.
I don’t think of it as juvenile - maybe because of Aunt Sadie in Pursuit of Love.
Yes, most of my reaction to names is based on books….

Love it

Was top choice for both DS's had they been DDs. Grandmothers name, but also I love it, it's pretty but not twee. Couldn't use it for my eldest as Ex hated it, so the more Sadies in the world, the better!

LittleMysSister · 15/09/2021 10:14

I love it :)

TrampolineForMrKite · 15/09/2021 10:26

I have a Sadie. I think it’s nice, works for all ages, classy and a bit quirky but not completely out there. My Sadie’s only objection is when we sing “Sexy Sadie” by the Beatles to her Grin

Fizzysticks · 15/09/2021 10:51

Lovely name! Also really like the slightly fresher sounding Zadie too.

Blubells · 15/09/2021 12:46

I'm not keen on the Sad part. It looks sad.

MissSmiley · 15/09/2021 21:04

I wanted something more traditional, my DH suggested it, our older teen daughter loves her name

Mymapuddlington · 15/09/2021 21:06

I’m not keen for a child but only because my nannas dog was Sadie and so I automatically think of her lol

PrawnCracker1 · 15/09/2021 21:07

I love it but then I am biased as I have a Sadie. She is 10 now, and really suits it :-)

Viviennemary · 15/09/2021 21:10

Im not overkeen. But its not that bad.

EmergencyPoncho · 15/09/2021 21:12

@myrtleWilson

I have an older teen named Sadie - it suits her. Can't see it failing the perennial "can you imagine a senior exec being called Sadie" - there are lots.

Also, because this will undoubtedly come up on the thread - no one has referenced any Sadie songs to her, nor has anyone mocked her by pointing out her name includes "sad" and "die" nor does she ever get called a sadist Wink

Me too and the same. Nobody has ever made fun and she's the only one in her high school with the name. It wasn't my first choice, but I'm happy with it and she hasn't complained...
Ninasister · 15/09/2021 21:39

Awful.

MeredithGreyishblue · 15/09/2021 21:41

There's one in DS2s y5 class.

Reminds me of the Anerican girl at Malory Towers that Alison had a crush on. But not in a bad way.

olivesnutsandcheeseplease · 15/09/2021 21:46

A lovely name, quite classy but needs to work well with the surname

PricklesTheHedgehog · 15/09/2021 21:54

No

Chloerobinson97 · 18/09/2021 07:09

I’m due in December and our girl name is Sadie! My boyfriend and I love it as it’s so pretty but not overly popular 🥰 if we have a girl she will be Sadie Grace xx

WibbleyWobble · 18/09/2021 07:14

I'm from Glasgow - too many Sadies when I was wee for me to name a baby Sadie Shady Sadie. But that reflects my upbringing. In a nicer part of the word I'm sure it will have nicer connections.

WibbleyWobble · 18/09/2021 07:15

*a nicer part of the WORLD

Almostcooked2021 · 19/09/2021 07:22

I like it too. Was on my list but husband rejected!
