Since everyone wasn’t a fan of Prairie 😂, I thought it was kind of cute. How do you guys feel about the name Hudson, for a boy of course

Great name for a Labrador!

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 13/09/2021 21:11

It’s better than Prairie. I’m not keen on names ending in son and it feels too much of a surname to give as a first name.

But better than Prairie!

Onlinedilema · 13/09/2021 21:13

I don't like it.
I don't like any names ending in son either.

Darkchocolateandcoffee · 13/09/2021 21:18

Pretentious

TatianaBis · 13/09/2021 21:19

Very wannabe American-Essex. But definitely better than Prairie.

Ruthietuthie · 13/09/2021 21:43

@MissConductUS, any of the above.
Do those the parent have any connection to any of the various rivers/straits/places with Hudson in the name.

Pemba · 15/09/2021 16:40

It's a surname. I generally dislike surnames as first names. It's the river in New York. Not as ridiculous as Prairie though.

What's wrong with an actual recognisable first name, out of interest? Of which there are so many. James, Nathaniel, Louis, Sebastian etc etc. All so much nicer.

LowbrowVictoriana · 17/09/2021 11:46

Not so keen.
I think the worst thing is that it will be shortened to "Hud" which is quite ugly.

fger7 · 17/09/2021 12:07

imho it is a surname (son of Hud/Hugh). not what you want to hear I guess.
Unless you are in the US, where surnames as first names is much bigger than in the UK.

Elisemum · 17/09/2021 18:48

I really like it, it’s a very nice/manly name.

RaspberryBlower99 · 17/09/2021 19:12

It's not awful but I keep thinking of the river and then the plane crash. Sorry!

Sagaz · 17/09/2021 19:14

Ok in new york where it has some meaning, but not in the uk.

Smartiepants79 · 17/09/2021 19:17

It’s fine.
A bit Americanised for my liking.
But not awful.

AlphabetAerobics · 17/09/2021 19:22

My cousin is named Hudson - but tbf he’s Canadian.

BrainPotter · 17/09/2021 19:50

Meh

KeyErro · 17/09/2021 19:52

I think it's a really ugly sound

DevilFinger · 17/09/2021 19:57

Game over man! (And it's a surname)

Fckingfuming · 17/09/2021 20:07

Yup to 'Game over man, game over!'.
Aliens.

Cindie943811A · 17/09/2021 20:31

Not my choice but it’s okay — to my mind preferable to the popular Harrison. Go for it if you like it.
(No idea why anyone would think it was pretentious )

alexdgr8 · 17/09/2021 20:37

Higginbottom is much more unusual, and snazzy.

nicecheesegromit · 17/09/2021 21:45

Naaa, not classy at all

Ninkanink · 17/09/2021 21:50

Don’t like it at all.

It’s a surname.

Also it might be an idea to just make one thread for all your potential name choices, instead of a separate thread for each one.

Ninkanink · 17/09/2021 21:51

It’s not pretentious at all...in fact I’d say it’s anything but!

DuckonaBike · 17/09/2021 21:53

Good name for a river, not so good for a person.

SirChenjins · 17/09/2021 21:59

Are you a bit obsessed with America at the moment OP? Grin

No, Hudson is not very nice - it’s a Jaxon/Kai/Riley/Mason/Tyler type name.
