@whiteroseredrose

I think it is lovely.

However the Sophia in my year 2 class got unwanted jokes when they learned about spheres!

My DD is Sofia and got that but she thought it was funny Grin

Same as your thread on Charlotte really. It’s so boring that I don’t have any opinion at all.

Smartiepants79 · 12/09/2021 08:41

It’s very pretty.
My daughter is in a year group with 5 girls with that name so I think it’s fairly popular if that kind of thing bothers you.

So I replied to a PP there but just wanted to say my 8 yo DD is Sofia, spelt like that due to a Polish family connection on her dads side (didn't want to go the whole hog with Zofia) She really suits her name, I think it's a strong class name, not too flowery and I also don't think it's overused. I think when we chose it Sofia was hardly used at all so it has got more popular. There's one other Sophia in her year and it really doesn't feel too popular. I definitely prefer the F spelling but obviously that's because I picked it. Grin. When we went to Crete a lot of locals in restaurants etc kept asking if she was Greek. Means wisdom which I also love.

Classic not class Smile

Geamhradh · 12/09/2021 08:43

I was going to say I love your choices OP
Charlotte is also timeless and classy.

RandomWordGenerator · 12/09/2021 08:44

I prefer Sophie - less showy, less fancy. I know far too many Sophias, aged 10 down.

mongoosebaby · 12/09/2021 08:49

I absolutely love it. It is incredibly popular though, if that bothers you. I was very tempted with it but I'm a teacher and I've had at least 1 Sophia or Sophie in my class every year (the most I had was 4..) and I just couldn't bring myself to use it. It's such a beautiful name, with a lovely meaning. I can see why people love it. I also like the Fee shortening, but a lot of people don't.

gonnabeok · 12/09/2021 08:57

Love it. I chose it for my daughter. It's timeless and elegant. She is 11 and has never came across another Sophia.

RuthW · 12/09/2021 09:30

Dislike, very boring and popular but a hundred times better than Sophie.

Girlmum89 · 12/09/2021 10:07

I’ve seen you’ve posted about the name Charlotte as well as Sophia! These are both my top two names for a girl. Love them both!

PattyPan · 12/09/2021 11:01

I love it and it was always top of my list but someone in my family has used it so I probably won’t now, except maybe as a middle name.

Poetrypatty · 12/09/2021 12:24

Nice but overdone

KirstenBlest · 12/09/2021 12:43

Nice but so overused. I prefer Sophie

I had the opposite with my ds. He has a girl in his class called Sophia and he kept calling spheres Sophias when he was learning about shapes Grin

It's a pretty name OP.

Hi there,
Jk

Firsttimebabymummy · 03/07/2024 13:20

I like it but wouldn't use it. I prefer Sophie too.

I've never met one myself

I think Charlotte is harsh and ugly. Sounds like a cross between churl and harlot. It doesn't seem to have an image problem though, in spite of being one of the world's fugliest names.

Sophia is gorgeous and feminine, but overused at the moment. Maybe the OP should give her DD more unusual middle names so that she can be known by one of those instead, if she doesn't like being one of two or three in the class.

Delphineo · 03/07/2024 19:07

It's a lovely name but most people in my area pronounce it s'fear which grates on me
