Ettie?

What do people think of Ettie? I like it but unsure if should choose a longer name and then shorten to Ettie...but then I think is that odd if you want to call her Ettie? 😂

I think Ettie sounds like a nickname and I’d give her a longer name on her birth certificate to fall back on. I’ve no idea what though.

It was my great grandmother's name! I think a derivative of Kitty (or whatever the Yiddish version was)

Won't you spend your time (or her) saying "No not Hetty, it's Ettie with no H".....and people just thinking you can't speak well and have dropped the H....

I like it. An acquaintance I knew a few years ago had a daughter with that name - thought it was adorable, quirky/vintage vibe

It's lovely. It does sound like a nickname and with nicknamey names I do feel it's nice to give a more formal option too. Esther, Elizabeth, Harriet, Henrietta or Juliet are options if you like any of those.

As a derail, I saw Otilie spelt Otterly the other day. Gives it quite a different meaning! 🦦

Quite like it. Sounds like your trying to say Hettie. Short for Henrietta or Harriet.

Etta is similar and a name unto itself a la Etta James.

I like Ettie too; love Rosetta. I guess it could also be a nn for Lettice or Letitia?

DD is an Ettie - her ‘big name’ is Greta. We love it, it gets a good response from others and it really suits her but I’m pleased she has something a bit stronger and more substantial for a full name. Juliet, Harriet, Esther etc would all work.

The only other Ettie we’ve come across so far was named to honour a grandma Ethel!

I like Ettie, my first thoughts for a 'longer name' were Juliet/Juliette and Harriet. Henrietta and Esther could also work.
