Rory with a Rosie?

My DD is a Rosie and we like the name Rory for a boy but I’m hesitating as they are very similar sounding names. Also middle names would begin with A so exact same initials. Do you see any issue with this? Other half is Scottish and wants it spelt Ruaridh which is a whole other debate as I struggle to spell it as English but prefer the way it sounds.

It’s sounds a bit too similar for me … Rosie and Rory… both lovely names but people will constantly mix them I think (I could be wrong). Also you know in creche/school - you will have to use initials to mark kids lunchboxes/echoes etc - it will be very confusing. Obviously go with whatever suits you x

Elisemum · 28/08/2021 13:38

Lots of spelling mistakes there sorry! But yes- both are lovely names but too confusing for siblings in my opinion. You will probably ending up mixing them yourself sometimes :)

Notashandyta · 28/08/2021 13:55

A bit too twee together (and yes, very similar sounding).

Would be cute until they hit 6 and then embarrassing for them, sorry

If you like both names, I don't see why not? They're clearly different sexes (unlike Rosie/Ruby or Rory/Rudy) and won't be spending the next 80 odd years standing next to one another. You're launching two individuals into the world, so choose the names you want them to have!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 28/08/2021 14:54

Sorry, if I'm honest they are a bit cutesy sounding together for me. I think same initial's is fine (as the post will usually be Mr/Miss) but combined with the same "ee" ending as well it's a bit much.

BichonFrizz · 28/08/2021 14:56

Both really nice names and don't see the problem with how they sound together either. It's not like you've called them Bonnie and Clyde.

DramaAlpaca · 28/08/2021 14:59

I have a friend with a Rory and a Roisín which is similar and it's fine.

Rory/Ruairidh/Ruaridh is too nice a name not to use if you love it.

Fl0w3ry · 28/08/2021 18:03

I think they sound nice together and I really love the name Rory.

BobbiPinsOn · 28/08/2021 18:11

Rori

WaitinginVain · 28/08/2021 18:14

I think its a great name, whichever way you spell it and also fine alongside Rosie. They won't always come as a pair Smile.

diddlediddle · 28/08/2021 18:41

I wouldn't 🤷🏼‍♀️

manhattenrain · 28/08/2021 20:37

Unfortunately, I think they are way too similar.

Ikeameatballs · 28/08/2021 21:54

Too similar IMO but both lovely names individually.

MeredithGreyishblue · 28/08/2021 21:57

I have a Rory! So I'm biased but I love it! My other DS has another R name but, like pp said, they won't be a pair forever! Names don't need to "go".

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 29/08/2021 14:28

I think it’s absolutely fine. Nice names!

HoldingTheDoor · 29/08/2021 14:28

They're too similar.

Enko · 29/08/2021 18:32

too similar
