Would like to know what associations you have with Tess? What comes to mind when you hear it? Smile

OP posts:

I find it very down to earth and country-ish! I don't know why. Maybe it's the d'Urbervilles association.

Tessa I find a bit more glamorous.

I like both names a lot though.

Pinkstegosaurus · 13/08/2021 17:52

I knew a Theresa who went by Tess at school, she was very bohemian and incredibly well read and very lovely so that will always be my association!

Fl0w3ry · 13/08/2021 18:47

It makes me think of the country and organic things and outdoorsy things. I have no idea why.

spartanthehorse · 13/08/2021 18:57

Tess of the D'urbervilles

I love it though

romdowa · 13/08/2021 18:58

Brings tess daly to mind

Cookiebox · 13/08/2021 19:25

It's really dull and frumpy in my opinion

ofwarren · 13/08/2021 19:30

I like it
I would assume it's short for Tessa.

MrsCremuel · 13/08/2021 19:31

I love it. It was my name if this pregnancy was a girl. Tess/Tessa. I think of Tess of the D’ubervilles but it also feels cute and bohemian to me, very cool. And my Nan is Teresa so I am biased!

cariadlet · 13/08/2021 19:32

Similar to pp. Natural, bohemian etc Lovely name (also like Tessa).

lotsofdogshere · 13/08/2021 19:34

Tess of the D’ubervilles - my A level book, I loved it then
I love the name - .

wishing3 · 13/08/2021 19:35

A gorgeous kind girl I knew. I love the name!

Cbeebiesrehab · 13/08/2021 19:44

Lovely, simple but underused. Suits all ages, easy to spell! What’s not to love! Great name.

mynameistess · 13/08/2021 19:46

It's my name and I like it. However not a week goes by without being called Theresa.

Most adults assume my name is a shortened version.

My name is Tessa but my nickname is Tess.

Just something to be aware of Smile

Theoldcuriosityshop · 13/08/2021 20:06

Love it.

user1497787065 · 13/08/2021 20:07

It think it's lovely as long as your surname is not Tickle.

mynameistess · 13/08/2021 20:08

@user1497787065 I did get called Miss Tickle affectionately as a young adult. Grin

Givemebackmylilo · 13/08/2021 20:11

Beautiful.

LoveFall · 13/08/2021 20:11

I know a Teresa who says she has always wanted to be called Tess. I think it's pretty.

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 13/08/2021 20:38

It’s brings to mind my Nan’s ndneighbour (Tessie) from when I was small - both of whom were more Mother to me than my own Mother, so nothing but thoughts of a lovely human being for me Smile

Puffykins · 13/08/2021 20:43

I love it. I also love the novel Tess of the d'Urbervilles, and the Tess in that.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/08/2021 21:32

A deep thinking, romantic/poetic seeming, emotional, kind of wild/brave, outdoorsy sort. I suppose I'm heavily influenced by the Hardy novel. I do like Theresa with the nn Tess too, but I think Tess is one of the few female shortenings that works on its own as well.

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/08/2021 21:36

The Constant Nymph. Great if problematic book.

I absolutely adore the name. Dreamy without being too saccharine.

FeedMeSantiago · 13/08/2021 22:57

I love it and Tessa too. I used to know a lovely Tass when I was a child so Tess reminds me of her as the two names sound so similar. Never met a Tess or a Tessa.

peaceinourtime · 15/08/2021 07:57

I like it, it doesn't have to be short for Tessa

Ginandplatonic · 15/08/2021 08:01

Love it! Love Tessa slightly more, but just Tess is great too.
