Orlando?

Is it just too much? We love it but I’m a bit concerned it’ll raise too many eyebrows!

I like it too! Not sure I’d be brave enough to use it though!

OrlandointheWilderness · 05/08/2021 13:13

Clearly I approve 😂

FadoFado · 05/08/2021 13:15

I think Orlando Bloom has made it accessible. Would be a good name to match with a boring surname like Brown. Might be a bit much on a flouncier surname.

WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor · 05/08/2021 13:16

It’s a bit American sounding to me.

TatianaBis · 05/08/2021 13:32

Love. One of my favourite names. I'm related to one.

TatianaBis · 05/08/2021 13:33

Wtf? It's Italian. There's a world beyond Florida theme parks.
MaMelon · 05/08/2021 13:36

I want to like it, primarily because of Orlando Bloom who is quite pleasing on the eye, but theme parks...

And yes, I know there's a world beyond Florida.

DramaAlpaca · 05/08/2021 13:37

No, too much for me.

LilyE1234 · 05/08/2021 13:39

I really like Lando but the only one I’ve heard of is the F1 driver!

Everythingmagnolia · 05/08/2021 14:25

I know an Orlando. He was named after being conceived on holiday there.

TrampolineForMrKite · 05/08/2021 14:27

Perfectly lovely name for a son, as long as you live in Happily-on-the-Wold, near Royal Windsor.

astoundedgoat · 05/08/2021 14:29

It’s gorgeous. Love it. The only Orlando I know has a Sicilian surname, though.

toastofthetown · 05/08/2021 14:42

I love Orlando. It's not popular, but everyone has heard of it and can say it and spell it, which is a really nice spot. Even if it does raise eyebrows at first, soon enough it will just be his name.

Chilldonaldchill · 05/08/2021 15:18

I like it for its Shakespearean origin but I would really worry that people would think you'd used it because of Florida!

margarita100 · 05/08/2021 15:41

I love it! The book by Virginia Woolf springs to mind for me, I don't think of Florida at all. I think a lot of people will think of Bloom though but he won't be around forever.
Go for it if you like it

margarita100 · 05/08/2021 15:44

Just to add, lots of kids are named after places and there's no issues. I met an India and Chester the other day, no different to an Orlando

TinaYouFatLard · 05/08/2021 15:46

I do like it but there’s a scene in the movie Ghost where a woman is trying to contact her dead husband and it always makes me think of that!

Iamacatslave · 05/08/2021 15:49

I know an Orlando. We call him Lando.

Yes that's where my username came from. It's what I always associate the name with.
margarita100 · 05/08/2021 16:54

@OrlandointheWilderness great username! ☺️

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 05/08/2021 18:04

It is quite brave - but awesome imo. Great literary namesakes (Shakespeare and Woolf characters) but I think a lot of people will think of actor Bloom or the Florida city too instead unfortunately. I like the nn Orry with it myself.

TatianaBis · 07/08/2021 08:45

Puzzled by the idea of it being brave. I know 3.

YorkshireSunshine · 10/08/2021 14:09

I like Orlando - Virginia Wolf fan here. But think Lando is more wearable - my OH is a big F1 fan though so thinks people would think we’d named him after the driver Grin

beans1992 · 12/08/2021 19:28

I absolutely love it.

RobynNora · 12/08/2021 19:44

Only guy I know who has it is soooo impossibly posh. He says he gets Bloom more than Virginia Wolf. Gorgeous name.
