Short name for a trilingual kid

Dear mums, it's the first time I am writing here, but I read this forum quite a lot before :)
We are getting a second baby soon, and we won't know the gender until birth, so I am preparing two sets of names.
We would like a short first name (3-5 letters maximum), but to make it more complicated, it should sound well and have no negative associations in 3 languages.
I am Russian, my husband is German and we have lived in England for the past 7 years and are planning to stay for at least a few more. We have filtered out quite a few names based on our knowledge of German and Russian culture, however I would be grateful for advice from native British mums. For example, after having read through some threads here, I realised that Kai and Ian are not widely accepted in the UK.
Ok, to cut it short, we came up with the following names and I would like to hear your opinions or suggestions.
Important: it's not really about personal opinions on the name itself - we all have our tastes. It's more about cultural acceptance and country associations I may not be aware of. Also, the name may sound exotic in one of the languages, but still sound pleasant. Thank you!

For girls, we are thinking about Liv (as a full name) or Zoe.
The middle name will be Anastasia (connected to a family situation)
I am not up for Olivia, but my concern is that there are many baby Olivias nowadays whose names are probably shortened to Liv?

For boys, we are considering Elias or Jan. Middle name is still to be chosen. Maybe Theodor.
I am not sure if Jan will always be pronunciation correctly (/Yan/), and Elias seems to be getting too popular in Germany (my concern), but not so in the UK.

Whay do you think about these 4: Liv - Zoe, Elias - Jan? Any other suggestions?
Please be mindful with "I like / I don't like" as you may hurt someone's feelings. Again, it's more about general cultural acceptance.

Many thanks!

I think Elias and Ida would work well

blitzen · 08/08/2021 09:08

Anya
Nico

Twinkie01 · 08/08/2021 09:34

Was going to say Max, works in each of the languages.

What about Clara for a girl or Anna?

BubbleCoffee · 08/08/2021 10:57

Ian, I would associate with a man in his 50s but think its due a comeback and it's perfectly acceptable..

Jan - A women's name, particularly of my mums era. Short for Janet or Janice.

Kai - really don't like at all.

Suggestions

Max
Seth
Alex
Henry
Felix

Primrosejoy · 13/08/2021 16:09

Ps. Love Zoe

I think people would assume that Liv was short for Olivia. Zoe Anastasia would work well in this country.

Ian is not an unacceptable name but it is a bit dated. Ian's tend to be middle aged men rather than little boys!

Jan would be fine once people knew how it was pronounced. Again Elias isn't a popular name in this country but would be perfectly fine.

Blackberrybunnet · 13/08/2021 16:30

Both Kai and Ian are fairly usual in Scotland, Kai more recently.
Tom/Tim/Tam can hardly be pronounced any other way, and are all cute. Mia/Tia is a girl's name that is rarely pronounced differently, and both are also cute.

CatsArePeople · 16/08/2021 14:39

Victor/Victoria?

MydogWillow · 16/08/2021 14:47

@Wilma55

Tash Max
My immediate thought was Natasha and Max Smile
Magicstars · 16/08/2021 14:54

What about Max?
I like both Liv & Zoe.
Ian Is fine- I think it would be seen as a quirky choice as not typically used for children now. However that’s no bad thing.
Kai is quite popular for children in the uk.
Elias is cute, I know one & we call him Eli.

aiwblam · 16/08/2021 14:55

Nick

Cornettoninja · 16/08/2021 19:36

I really like Zoe, would Dinah work in all three languages?

I also like the suggestion of Max.

MumofSpud · 16/08/2021 19:41

The only Jan I know is a teenage boy here in the UK with German parents (pronounced Yan).

It is a much more sensible /easy name than some of the atrocities some parents cobble together / make up ! Grin

I love Anastasia and I was also going to say Ian is a middle aged IT worker!!

I know a Katja (pronounced Katya)

MydogWillow · 17/08/2021 07:10

Iris?

I know it works in German but unsure about Russian?

Iwantedtrianglesnotsquares · 17/08/2021 07:21

I teach a Liza who has the same trilingual combination (Russian /German/English)

Magicstars · 17/08/2021 07:44

Sophia,
Zac,
How about Anastasia as a first name, Nn Ana?

MrsBertBibby · 17/08/2021 08:32

Elias is gorgeous. Just do it!
Like Zoë a lot. Also Ida
Liv sounds a bit chopped off to me. It's a good friend's daughter's nickname, I like it well enough, but so widespread. She is of course an Olivia.

Nina and Edith were my top girl names, but may not work across all languages.

ElvisPresleyHadABaby · 17/08/2021 10:32

Sacha? Annika? Lena?

VanillaAndOrange · 17/08/2021 12:08

Most people in the UK know some Polish people nowadays so I'd be surprised if many of them hadn't come across a Jan pronounced Yan. In any case you only have to tell each new person once. I rathe like Jan - I used to know a little Austrian boy called that, and I thought it was very sweet and simple, and more international than Johann(es).

Liv is a name in its own right in Scandinavian countries.

I honestly like all 4 choices, I just wanted to say that I don't think any of them will cause any major problems.

Cindie943811A · 17/08/2021 22:28

Is Eli used in Russia and Germany? Is nice and short. I know a 4 year old Eli. Very similar to Elias.
Also Levi
Liv is not common but I’ve heard of a few.
Kai means Prince but I’m afraid the Rooneys ruined the name for me.
Does Kurt work in Russian and German?
How fortunate for your children to grow up tri- lingual— you deserve a lot of credit because to teach your children extra languages, even when they are your native tongues, takes extra effort. I’ve known parents who intended to do this but it didn’t work out.
Good luck

AdriannaP · 17/08/2021 22:30

Kai is very common in South England, I know 3 under the age of 5.
Jan - will not be pronounced the German way for sure.

AdriannaP · 17/08/2021 22:33

Max or Alex (Sasha) are great suggestions!
Leo or Lev?
Ana for Anastasia
I know a Anastasia abbreviated to Stasi but wouldn’t work in German!!
Lotta
Olga
Agnes

Smurf123 · 17/08/2021 22:40

I like Zoe and Elias
My dh is Danish with a name that begins with J and it annoys him with the difference in pronunciation between here uk and when he's in Denmark.
For that very reason he insisted on names that could be pronounced the same way for our ds and dd
