Stuck on three boy names, what do you prefer?

Rory
Teddy
Bodhi

Surname isn't popular at all.

Thank you Smile

Bodhi

Violetlavenders · 30/07/2021 12:50

Not Teddy 🧸

ApolloandDaphne · 30/07/2021 12:50

Rory.

ILoveShula · 30/07/2021 13:14

Rory

Bumblecattabbybee · 30/07/2021 13:22

Rory

Chilldonaldchill · 30/07/2021 13:22

Rory.
Then Teddy

pinkyredrose · 30/07/2021 13:23

Rory.

There's going to be so many Teddy's when he's at school,

Chunkymenrock · 30/07/2021 13:27

Rory (roary-awful noise), Teddy not good for a man, Bodhi is the best of a bad bunch but I always read it as body and so prefer Bodie spelling. But I'm afraid I don't like any.

emmathedilemma · 30/07/2021 14:01

Rory but I prefer the celtic variations e.g. Rhuaraidh / Ruaraidh (but the spelling could be a pain in the arse!)
If you're going to use Teddy please use Edward as a full name so he's got the option when older.

Quercus3 · 30/07/2021 14:03

Rory

RickOShay · 30/07/2021 14:11

Bodhi

MrsGilly1 · 30/07/2021 14:12

Bodhi

I am not keen on the others - I like Rudi though as a suggestion X

LynetteScavo · 30/07/2021 14:27

Rory

I always think Bhodi should be Brodie

toastofthetown · 30/07/2021 15:49

Rory. Teddy is everywhere and Bodhi is painfully trendy.

Standrewsschool · 30/07/2021 17:02

Rory.

Teddy is really popular at the moment,

IVflytrap · 30/07/2021 18:58

Rory is the best of the three.

Dislike Teddy.

Bodhi only if you're Buddhist.

FazedNotPhased · 30/07/2021 18:59

Rory.

The other two are 😬

17caterpillars1mouse · 30/07/2021 19:00

Rory

I really really really dislike Teddy on a boy, even as a nn. I like it as a nn for Theodora though

Bodhi seems very now and faddy

ODFOx · 30/07/2021 19:07

Disclaimer: these thoughts are based on the presumption that you are of white British descent. If your choices are coloured by a family cultural background then this won't apply (obviously).
What is the middle name? That will be pivotal as to how far you can go for the first name and still give him a more grounded name in the future.

If your middle name is very unusual, pick Rory.
If you middle name is 'normal', pick Teddy but register him Edward.
If your middle name is John or equivalent, go for Bodhi but consider a more angled cursed spelling (ie Bodie)

poodlepip · 30/07/2021 19:19

Rory for sure. Do not do what someone suggested of a difficult spelling Rhuaraidh (unless you are from a very specific Celtic community where it won't cause an issue for the child).
I have an Irish friend living in England spelt Ruari and even that gives him daily grief!

Katefoster · 30/07/2021 20:36

Rory
Bodhi
Teddy

bloominglovelyorange · 30/07/2021 22:02

I like Bodhi
Teddy nice but maybe too popular for me. Tristan?

Rory has boomed massively in popularity in last few years (look at the official charts and graphs) and is really overdone now plus so many popular top 100 boys names sound really similar with a Ro sound at beginning - Ronnie RoMan Reuben. All different names but when there's a class full of these sorts of names they do start to merge and get confusing, I'd avoid R names.

35andThriving · 30/07/2021 22:25

Rory

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 30/07/2021 22:43

Bodhi is brave, but I must admit it does sound cool imo (reminds me of Patrick Swazye's surfing antihero in the cult film Point Break, as well as Buddhist links).

Teddy is very cute on a toddler but it's a nn to me only, too insubstantial on its own.

Rory is okay, just a bit trendy at the moment (unless you are in Scotland or Ireland where I think it's more classic).

Bingbongbash · 30/07/2021 22:48

Only like Rory.
