Yes

NuffSaidSam · 25/07/2021 15:56

I think it's ridiculous, but if you like it etc. etc. At least it's only a middle name.

Noshowwithoutpunch · 25/07/2021 16:01

Yes

CoffeeBeansGalore · 25/07/2021 16:01

It is a tad. Go for a flower name if you want a similar vibe:

Lavender
Acacia
Violet
Blossom
Jasmine
Willow
Marigold
Pansy
Lily
Rose
Daisy
Meadow

or
Fleur
Flora
Florence

Hellocatshome · 25/07/2021 16:01

No as long as you are aware they may decide to never use it.

MrsGilly1 · 25/07/2021 16:45

Yes

Go for something like Primrose Willow or Brooke or other flower names etc X

Havanalily1806 · 25/07/2021 18:38

What about shortening it to Wilde? I think the spelling still looks feminine and pretty

Angel2702 · 25/07/2021 18:57

I think as middle names are never actually used other than birth announcements and official documents anything goes really.

Zarene · 25/07/2021 18:59

I like it for a middle name! It's not like a first name - if they find it embarrassing, no one ever need know. If they think it's cool, they can shout about it!

SummaLuvin · 25/07/2021 19:45

It's definitely unusual, it's not a name on the 2019 England and Wales list, so if it was used that year it was less than 3 times. Pretty much unheard of for names. (that data doesn't include middle names)

My general opinion is that if you use a bizarre name, for either first name or middle, the other names should be very 'normal' so they have something they can use if they hate it.

On the name itself I'm not sure I actually like it sonically, seems clunky, though that's a personal thing. Strange names are becoming more and more common, not as out of place as it would be 40 years ago. Only you can decide what name is 'too' anything for you, worth bearing in mind that mumsnet names forum seems to be in conservative phase where traditional (boring) names are celebrated and the more unusual ones are given bad reactions.

Firebird83 · 25/07/2021 19:56

Not if the first name is more ‘normal’. Something like Elizabeth Wildflower would be lovely.

TheRosariojewels · 25/07/2021 20:45

I think I would rather have the name of a wildflower.

IVflytrap · 26/07/2021 08:52

I've surprised myself because I actually quite like it. However you can't guarantee your child will. I would put it as a second middle name, so that they can choose not to use it if they don't like it and still have a middle name to use.

Alternatively you could use a wild flower name? A normal one, or one a bit more out there. eg Daisy, Aster, Heather, Poppy, Celandine, Lily, Anemone, Azalea, Clover, Iris, Marigold, Bluebell.

NotMeekNotObedient · 27/07/2021 13:04

Sorry, dont like it. Could you choose your favourite wildflower instead? Or have a look at The Language of Flowers and choose a floral name based of of the meaning?
