pinkfuschias · 24/07/2021 18:16

I'm expecting a baby boy, I am thinking of these names.

Oscar, Darnell, Martin, Tyrell, Jerell, Micah, Tyreise

These are all some of my favorite names, I want to know what other women think about them. Thank you

Love Oscar

is on our list, too

Camandmitch · 24/07/2021 18:53

All fine. I have a soft spot for Martin. All Martin's I know have been nice

Aquamarine1029 · 24/07/2021 18:55

I love Martin. I have know many Martins in my life, and all of them are/were lovely.

Hellocatshome · 24/07/2021 19:00

I like Micha, not keen on the rest, how about Malachi?

pinkfuschias · 24/07/2021 19:05

My nephew (his to-be cousin) is named Malachi, so that won't work. But it's a great name.

These are all popular names from the Caribbean island I am from, I moved to London four years ago. I am aware that they are not as common here, I'm want to double-check that they are normal enough names in a British culture?

I like micah

notsusan · 24/07/2021 19:45

with the exception of Oscar, I think they'd all be unusual in the uk, but not unheard of. funny, I thought you were from the Caribbean before you said so! not sure if that's because I have similar background, but was recognisable from the list of names for me Smile
congrats on your (soon to be) baby boy

miltonj · 24/07/2021 19:46

Love tyreise and Martin. Think it would be a sham to go for Oscar when your other ideas are much more individual. Don't like Darnell.... it's a rough area in a city I used to live In 😅

miltonj · 24/07/2021 19:47

Shame not sham!

Camandmitch · 24/07/2021 19:51

None of the names are 'out there'. I think you'll find Tyreise will be spelt in first instance in the UK as Tyrese.

Absolutely fine here Smile

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/07/2021 20:26

Oscar, Micah and Martin are pretty well used here too (Oscar is quite popular) so should have no problems in the UK - although most Martin's tend to be 40/50 plus. Your other choices are less common here so may get misspelt sometimes (eg Tyrese vs Tyreise, Jarell vs Jerell) but that's probably not a big deal.

CatsArePeople · 25/07/2021 11:59

Micah is the only one i like

WolfMother326 · 25/07/2021 18:50

I love Martin and Micah. My brother-in-law in the US (who is of Caribbean descent) is Martin, such a lovely person. Also familiar with Tyrell and Darnell from the US, but less known in the UK.

Havanalily1806 · 25/07/2021 18:54

Micah I like, and due to Micah Richards the footballer/pundit it's probably now a name that wouldn't feel unusual to hear but is still not a common name which is great

Dolores25 · 25/07/2021 19:18

I love Micah , it feels a bit more current than the others too.
I think any of them in the U.K. would be fine though, they’re all recognisable.

Firebird83 · 25/07/2021 20:03

I like Micah and Martin best

ILoveShula · 25/07/2021 20:53

Martin

EdgeOfACoin · 25/07/2021 21:46

Oscar, Micah and Martin work well. I really like Oscar and Micah.

The rest of the names are fine but more commonly heard in the US.

NotMeekNotObedient · 27/07/2021 13:09

I'd go for Oscar :)

Lena264 · 03/09/2021 10:51

me too

Buttercup54321 · 08/09/2021 00:00

I like Martin.
