Really want to use the name Thea Sienna for our DD due in a few weeks. Thea is a family name and I've always loved Sienna, but worried two names ending in A doesnt work very well.

It sounds fine to me but I think that's because I've repeated it so many times in my head it's just become normal... any thoughts?

First and middle names are rarely said together so I wouldn't worry about it.

alexio · 18/07/2021 11:29

Sounds fine to me, it's a lovely name combination

aSofaNearYou · 18/07/2021 11:30

I think it's fine. I've had the same dilemma with "y" names, but somehow two "a" names seem much less grating, probably because they naturally flow so well.

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 18/07/2021 11:34

I think it works well, because the a sounds don’t run into each other. There’s nice separation through the S and N sounds.

RickOShay · 18/07/2021 11:37

Lovely
My name and middle name both end in a, it’s nice

Amdone123 · 18/07/2021 11:50

I like it, too. My son's name ends in ic, and so does his middle name as I wanted to name him after my mum ( male version).
I think it flows and as a pp said you don't really say them together that often.

Papergirl1968 · 18/07/2021 11:51

I know an Isabella Sophia. Like pp said, first and middle names are rarely said together.
A pregnant friend is going to name her baby Ava, and as their surname ends in “er” similar to Baker that doesn’t go too well, I don’t think.

Ellmau · 18/07/2021 11:53

I think that combination works fine.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 18/07/2021 11:54

To me, it doesn’t flow that well but, as PP’s have said, first and middle names are rarely said together. They’re both nice names so, if you want them, use them.

Trinacham · 18/07/2021 12:01

My first and middle name both end in 'a' and never thought it sounded weird.

KirstenBlest · 18/07/2021 15:33

Th-ee-ah Soph-ee-ah

It's a bit like Tia Maria.

Chilldonaldchill · 18/07/2021 16:03

It's fine.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 18/07/2021 17:29

Generally for middle names I say use what you love most, because they are rarely said aloud/ most people won't know what it is. Thea Sienna doesn't flow as well as say something with very different sounds (like Thea Cecily for example) but it doesn't sound bad either imo.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 18/07/2021 17:30

I know a woman with GGG initials!

CrouchEndTiger12 · 18/07/2021 17:31

So obviously what you propose is fine

MenaiMna · 18/07/2021 17:33

I have this. It works because the syllable count is 3 3 1. I wouldn't if the surname was complex. Try it out loud and get a few people to say it to you.

JaninaDuszejko · 18/07/2021 17:39

Not only does DD have a first and middle name that end in the same vowel, her middle name starts with that letter as well, similar to you we were using family names. Clearly I think it flows well, in fact I disagree with the poster who thinks that Thea Cecily flows better than Thea Sienna, I think the repeating vowel sounds are very pleasing. But as people say first and middle names are rarely said together so it doesn't matter.

DramaAlpaca · 18/07/2021 17:55

If you like it, use it.

Synchrony · 18/07/2021 18:16

I think it flows well because of the syllable numbers and which syllable is emphasised.

AnyaMoondial · 18/07/2021 18:41

My dd has both first and middle ending in a. It’s fine. Lots of girls names end in ‘a’ 🤷🏻‍♀️

stormelf · 18/07/2021 22:05

I think it works absolutely fine. Lovely name. If this one turns out to he a girl we've chosen a first and middle name that end in a. Our surname also ends in er but I've said it out loud loads and it does flow as each name has different number of syllables
